Review summary

We missed the majority of the cruise ports. The first 2 ports were canceled due to the hurricane, and those were the main reasons for the cruise. I broke my toe the 1st night, so then we missed a few ports cause it really hurt. Then my hubby got sick the last 2 days and stayed in bed. So this was a total miss for us. But, I will say the ship/cruise was still enjoyable considering all the misgivings. Prehaps one of the best services we endured. :) Oh... PS... they need plugs beside the bed. Ughhhh!!! The extension cord across the floor to plug in the cpap machine is dangerous when going to the restroom in the dark of night! And, charging for bottled water when you have the drink packages is RIDICULOUS. These two things alone may keep me from returning to this ship.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
We added the early Embarkation package since we had an early flight on the last day. Getting on... It was PACKED with long lines. Ours was quicker with this package but still a wait. Shocking that they don't have a speeder process with today's technology.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
For the most part, food was average. Nothing over the top. The buffet area was insane and hard to find a table at breakfast and peak times. Food was a 6 or 7 out of 10. Sometimes, it's not very warm. Teppanyaki Restaurant was FANTASTIC. Our chef was very entertaining. I have a great video but it's not allowing me to add that. Ashame, cause it's good! The Local was great, fast service and they were very busy, typical bar food... wings, nachos, burgers (8 out of 10). Breakfast so-so (4 out of 10). Ocean Blue- great service, paid $30. extra for the lobster and steak... NOT WORTH it. Both lobster and steak over cooked and lobster was slightly larger than a golf ball (2 golf balls). I was very disappointed. They did have a shrimp appetizer that was plentiful and d-lish. 😀 The dining rooms had great service. We were always seated quickly at our early dining times. Food was average with a 6 or 7 out of 10.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Pool area very small. 2 hot tubs by the pool, busy but doable and warm. The Spice H2O is nice but the water is cool (for me). I toured the other space that you pay extra for.... 2 larger hot tubs, nice chairs, fire pit, bar... but not seeing the value here for the extra $'s. The spa was a let down. But, they are adding the thermal spa in January 2024. A much needed option.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The comedians were pretty good the first few nights. The last night was a waste of time. Footloose- (I rate a 6 or 7 out of 10). Seemed like a 6 Flags musical. Full disclosure...I'm not a musical lover. Many loved it. Elements! Excellent show! 10 out of 10. It was a musical with a little magic show. Great performances. A wow factor. Best we've watched anywhere, ship or otherwise. Very impressive.

Service and Staff

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
The bed was great, hard, but to our liking. Cabin was clean. Disliked the couch, which was so large that it was difficult to access the closet for our hanging clothes, made it hard to reach. They surprised us on our anniversary. Nice touch. Bathroom, SMALL! When sitting on the toilet, your arm touches the cold glass shower stall. IF you drop something in the shower or need to shave your legs it's a hard time bending over (head hit the glass). Shower leaked onto the bathroom floor. I told our room steward the seal at the bottom was broken. Upon our return, it was fixed. Great service!

Ship tip

Relax and enjoy. Book restaurants early if you like to eat early. We missed the steak house because we didn't want to eat at 9/9:30. Also, the site/app showed the shows/comedy was sold out. I asked at the desk, and they had reservations. :)

Ports of call

Quebec City, Quebec

4 out of 5
The city was beautiful from the ship view. Rainy, cool day. Hubs was sick, so I stayed onboard.

Sydney, Nova Scotia

4 out of 5
They had a craft show and small shops right at the pier. We didn't have any excursions planned as there was not much offered at any of the ports on this cruise (excluding Boston and Maine, which was canceled).

New York, New York

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
Shocking how well this went. We had an early flight 11 am and we were able to get off at 6:30am with plenty of taxis waiting. Smooth as molasses. Beware, taxi's want cash only ($31.00 to Quebec to yqb), and they don't tell you that until you're at the airport. I saw many scraping up enough $ to pay. They act like their credit card machine/phone won't take credit cards. They want US$ because of the value(roughly 30% more on value). 🤔

Traveler Photos

They surprised us with Anniversary wishes for 44 years. ❤️ NYC skyline from the plane. NYC from the air

@kdlady... I didn't realize hurricanes affected the far north area. I don't book the Caribbean during the season for that reason. Lesson learned- won't happen again!! 😞

I'm sorry you missed your ports - that is always a risk cruising during hurricane season.
