Other than disembarkation, we had a wonderful cruising experience. Just as we expected, the Joy's staff greeted each moment of our interactions with joyful greetings and lively conversation. Pleasantly guided through the cruise culinary exercise as expected. We loved the location of our room for access to elevators and dining areas. Bermuda is a place we will want to return to in the next year or two.
Embarkation
4 out of 5
Once we were dropped off, the line backed up as we stood before official check in. This resulted in a long time of not moving. We did get through faster than those without the preboarding check in completed.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We have always enjoyed the variety and preparation of our meals. So thankful for the portions and the care that went into our food by the ship's food staff. We had breakfast each day in the Garden Cafe buffet area. Freshly made omelettes to our order was quick and very plentiful. Fresh fruits were delicious. We had lunch there as well during a break from the Spice H2O deck. Dinners at Cagney and le Bistro were marvelous. The porterhouse is the given option for me at Cagney's. We ate in the Manhattan the following nights without delay. The daily menu had something for both of us each time. Ordering the shrimp appetizer to go into my salad was always met with kind service.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The cruise director had folks interested in onboard activities notified and encouraged to participate.
Entertainment
5 out of 5
The main attractions for our trip are two great shows, Elements and Footloose. We enjoyed them on a previous Joy cruise. We did catch the Beatles Revolution which had everyone singing along to those Beatle favorites.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
We always are thrilled by the motivation each NCL cruise staff has when making sure our vacation is enjoyable. This cruise was full of opportunities for the staff to meet and exceed our expectations.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The crew did a marvelous job tidying up all around the ship. Two things about ship design....we enjoyed the accessibility of the Waterfront and the views from the Observation Deck.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
Well, there I did it again. I put my review in the space for TITLE. Ughh.
Ship tip
Get a room off of the elevator lobby! Enjoy the Observation Deck for cards, book reading, or a quiet time watching the waves.
Per our cabin steward, ship leadership was encouraging everyone to Self Assist disembarkation with all of their luggage. Seems we were arriving 45 minutes late and needed everyone off the ship to prepare for the following cruise. We stood for 45 minutes waiting for the line to move once we got to the end of the gangway (shore side). Never had this kind of disembarkation experience in all of our previous 12 cruises.
