A great opportunity to view Glacier National Park and the coastal redwoods at Muir Woods. Only 4-5 above average meals.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
The ship was not full. We were able to walk right on.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
3 out of 5
Buffet was average; enjoyed breakfast choices. The Tzar dining room offered no memorable moments or food. Italian restaurant was below average. The Tepanyaki show, food and service were good. Great filet mignon at the steak house, with average sides. Winner for best overall meal and service for the complimentary food options is Chin Chin.
Onboard Activities
2 out of 5
We estimated Bingo payout at less than 20% of NCL's take. Pool closed on warmest day. Great massage!
Entertainment
2 out of 5
The magician and music shows were average. Travelling performers were too loud and below average. We can listen to loud rock n' roll, pop etc; but we did not recognize many of the selections and it wasn't very good.
Children's Programs
No children with us.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
With the exception of our room steward and a massage therapist; the personnel offered only routine service.
Ship Quality
4 out of 5
The recent remodel is nice and complements the ships size. Most areas were clean and well maintained.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We upgraded to a mini suite, cabin #11122. The cabin steward was amicable and not over-bearing. He did a great job keeping the room clean. The bed was very comfortable.
Ship tip
Stay out of casino and stay away from Bingo; the pay outs are not even close to the worst casinos.
NCL's new dedicated dock with dockside shopping is nice, but the travel time to downtown detracts from the port visit. There were no other boats docked at the 4 berths downtown.
The port visit was cut short by over 2 hours, so that we could idle 50 nautical miles from LA for 8 hours prior to the scheduled 4 AM docking. We missed out on a post tour activity that we had planned. We took the Muir Woods tour to see the coastal redwoods, which were awesome, but had to negotiate for an increase from 45 minutes to an hour (several parties), yet the brochure advertises 1 1/2 hours at Muir woods. Stopped at north side of Golden Gate Bridge to be disappointed by all the graffiti, garbage, neglect and disgusting restrooms. The residents of San Francisco and neighboring Sausalito should be ASHAMED!
