Review summary

A very nice break. An easy, stress-free cruise that was also quite affordable.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
NCL did all they could. Port of San Diego wasn't very organized. There was a Disney WONDER embarkation at the same time, and the entrance to the terminal was an unorganized mess.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was quite good, perhaps the best of our NCL cruises so far (this is our third). Drink package is great, the best in the industry.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Not much to do on sea days. Fitness center was quite small. Jogging track was nice, although it had lots of sharp turns. Pools were small, but okay.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
NCL continues to struggle with onboard entertainment; which was a strength pre-COVID. Neither of the advertised main shows were presented. Of the four musical groups, two were quite good and the other two not good at all. Minor shows presented in the theater were not good.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
As always, NCL service is superb.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Ship design is a little dated, but the ship was in excellent condition and very well cared for and clean. Buffet is small. Theater is badly in need of refreshing. Most interior carpets are showing their age. Staterooms were in excellent shape.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Cabin was very clean and obviously recently refreshed. Big bathroom. More storage would have been nice.

Ship tip

Lots of dead ends, especially on the 6th and 7th decks. Only way fore and aft inside is on the starboard side.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
There will be lots of complaints in this area, but we thought the debarkation process was okay. Because of Customs policy changes, Customs now comes onboard and clears passengers, rather than passengers going to them in the terminal. This caused a long line in the ship, and Customs was late getting onboard. But the line moved relatively fast, and we were off the ship by 0845.
