Review summary

We did not take one shore excursion but we review them all. On our other 10-12 cruises we struggle to decide which to take. We have always taken shore excursions in the past. We got miss-information from NCL's NYC office on dissembarking and change our West Coast flight home. On departure evening and morning we found out we would have had no problem making our earlier flight.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

1 out of 5
It seems that NCL and maybe all cruise lines are down-grading their dinners to force you to buy their alternative dining and mark up profits. One of the original draws to cruise was the dining. Now you get Denny's type meals with small portions and different servers each meal.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
Very poor, only one show had a cast all others were single or duo acts.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
I believe that when cruise line add the gratuity to the bill, to off set low wages, it dulls the staffs effort to please.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Not much above the base level.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
No complaints and cabin was attended to.

Ports of call

Sydney, Nova Scotia

Visit Maine instead.
Don't Miss: None

Portland, Maine

3 out of 5
Great New England feel just walking off of the ship.
Don't Miss: Great little local shops..

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Visit Boston instead.
Don't Miss: None

Pros: To see the Mathattan skyline as we departed NYC. Walk off in Portland, ME was the best to see.

Cons: Compared to our drive tours of New England States not much to see futher north.

Recommends Norwegian Jewel? No.
