Great sea days but debarkation processes chaotic. by yasmar

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

The abundance of relaxing sea days.  Great weather , staterooms on par with NCL other ships except for lack of storage in balcony cabin. Two port days with scheduled excursions prior to debarkation a bit difficult. A sea day is need before final port of call.

Smooth Sailing by marilynszilagyi

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: North America

Enjoyed this cruise.  We were lucky enough to have smooth seas on our journey to Great Britain.  Really loved the ports we visited -- just wish we could have had more time at them.  Also enjoyed the specialty restaurant and entertainment.  Especially liked the piano music with Taylor.  The food was overall good, but nothing special.  Would have liked a "special dinner" night with better menu.  The fish was always good.

What happened to a night life? by crystalnobre

Sail date: / Traveled as: Large Group
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Every night was same thing. Dinner, a show at 930, music Air Band or the piano guy at the bars, or guitar guy in the atrium, or karaoke, then DJ Viper at 1115 at Spinnaker lounge. We had a comedian one night and a hypnotist the other. For 6 people in their 30's and 40's this got old quick.

The stops were good and our vow renewal was great, beyond that, left a lot to be desired. For avid cruisers that had been on countless cruises we know better than to go back to Norwegian. Another couple with us said they will never cruise again, first experience and last.

A nice ship and iteniary. by jdickeysc

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

The Jade is a beautiful ship that you can tell has been recently refurbished. We experienced nothing that was out of order during the cruise. Overall the food, entertainment and crew were good with very little to complain about. Believe it or not the star of our trip was our cabin steward Denish. He was funny and friendly and did an outstanding job of taking care of the cabin. However, the Cruise Director and his staff were a little under whelming. They were adequate but nobody stands out to me which is not good. Cozumel and Honduras were fabulous. Costa Maya was fine.  Harvest Caye was a huge disappointment (see below). Tampa is a great port to sail from.

Worst Trained Crew by 50pluscruises

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

This was our 56th cruise and the Jade has the dubious distinction of having the worst trained crew we ever had.Let's start with the waiting area at the pier. They took my wife and all the other handicapped passengers in wheelchairs and walkers to get on board. Some woman near the elevator would not let us pass saying we all had to have numbers and gave us each 39. I complained but she told all the crew pushing the wheelchairs to take us back to the handicap area. When we got there, those staff members told the pushers to ignore that other person and take us to board. In the meantime, they started boarding the passengers and all those handicapped people had to mix in with the crowd.

The bar wait staff could not remember where their drink orders went. In the Stardust, the Sapphire, and the Gran Pacific.  The bar staff would ask people if they ordered one of the drinks on their tray, tried to give drinks to people that did not order them, and walked by us several times with our drinks on their tray, not recognizing us. The tables in the Sapphire were never cleaned and always sticky. And, we were charged for a cocktail and a canned soda we never had.

The service desk gave us wrong information the three times we stopped by to ask a question. They were not very pleasant. It took my wife four trips there to get the drinks finally removed from our bill.

My wife won a free picture at Deal or no Deal so we had pictures taken and were told they would be ready at 9pm. We went at 9:30 but the prints were not ready and were told to come back at 10. My wife went back at 10:30 and was told to return at 7 am the next morning. They also could not find our free picture and tried to charge us for it. Two more trips to get rid of that charge.

One day at the buffet, we asked three different crew to wipe the table as it was sticky and each said they would be right back. None ever returned. Finally had to get a maitre d to do it.

We went to a scheduled sudoku challenge and none of the cruise staff ever showed up. The cruise director said that the person on library duty probably did not know that he/she was supposed to do it. That is poor training.

The food on the ship was not bad but not good either. The meat at both the Brazilian restaurant and the steak house were both beneath par and certainly not worth the extra cost. Teppanyaki was the only specialty restaurant we went to that had good food and Jasmine, the Chinese restaurant, had the best food on the ship. It also bothered us that the only sugar free dessert was ice cream both in the dining room and on the buffet. Every other cruise we have ever been on had sugar free selections.

The bathroom was a joke. There was a nice shower and sink area but the toilet was so close to the wall that the only way to use it was side saddle.

The Jade in a very nice small large ship. It is easy to get around. The food at all venues was very good. The crew was very friendly. The ship was put in service 2006. Seemed new.

Relaxed by CaliforniaPat

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Enjoyed cruise.  Time to relax.  Didn't do much but read and people watched, Staff in all areas was outstanding except for one waiter.  Met couple from Florida and enjoyed developing new friendship.  Jasmine Garden meal was not especially enjoyable, all food except rice came at once.  Entree was cold by the time I was able to eat it.  Waiter appeared more interested in freeing table instead of us enjoying meal.  Waiting area for boarding seemed unorganized.  Many passengers standing and walking area to board ship was blocked due to limited space and seating.

Jade to Western Carribean by gsticzko232

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our second cruise with Norwegian and as expected everything was great.  Room, food, service, shows, activities were all excellent.

Only thing that would have been better is a full day in Harvest Caye Belize - beautiful beach port.

out of all the cruises we have taken this was just ok by mitymouser

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)

honestly  the crew and food / drinks and the room was great.  bed a bit uncomfortable but overall ok.  there a huge lack of evening entertainment on this ship we did have a good time,  but there wasnt anything to WOW us on the ship  cozomel and costa maya had great excursions,  roatan had a good stop also  but "belize" was just a reason to go ashore and sell the same junk you get anywhere in the carribean  , for the most part.

Good cruise by haliriano

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (young children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Our room was the favorite part of the cruise but despite the price it was very noisy. There must have been a pipe running right through the room, because  almost every three hours  huge amount of water was running through the pipe that would wake us up.  The ports were overall ok my favorite was Harvest Caye in Belize but we were only there for 5 hours and I was not allowed to have my 2.5 year old daughter in the pool so was very disappointed.  The resteraunts were really good but the shows were ok .  The only  show worth while was the Element.  The staff were really nice.

Norwegian Jade cruise 4/17 by mikekesselman1

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Favorite part of the cruise was just enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and freestyle dining.  Service was superb.  Will be going on more Norwegian cruises.

Main criticism was Costa Maya - delapidated, dirty town; trash and stench was unbelievable.

Entertainment/room service by jacmart

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Best: sitting on the porch every morning watching the sun come up! Entertainment only fair...poor quality room service...waitress service poor due to English problems..overbilled 4 times!..periodic elevator outages..

Overall fairly enjoyable cruise primarily due to nice cabin and porch and friendly employees with the exception of the poor understanding of English from most of the serving staff.

good not great by gerard38256355

Sail date: / Traveled as: Singles/Friends
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

on the jade right after a dry dock. some of the work seemed not to be completed. it didn't affect much but I didn't understand why. on the other hand I thought the shows in the main showroom were beyond mediocre. have cruised with ncl before I expected more. the cabin was perfect, and the food was good. le bistro as always, amazing and we particularly loved jasmines.

Western Caribbean by rskwooley

Sail date: / Traveled as: Couple
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

Enjoyed the ship, freestyle dining, port excursions.  Ultimate beverage package not really worth it, due to non drinkers.  Would have done fine putting the points to something else.  Special dining was not outstanding.  We liked the freestyle dining.  Would have like points applied elsewhere.  We loved our cruise, it was wonderful!

Disappointed by bdsccs

Sail date: / Traveled as: Family (older children)
Ship: Norwegian Jade / Destination: Caribbean - Western

We were really excited to sail on Norwegian.  We have cruised many times on different ships and were quite disappointed.  The ship was extremely crowded - worse than any ship I've ever been on.  There was never room around the pool.  Lounge areas were usually full. The game rooms were full. We had a hard time just finding a place to sit and talk or play games.  So, sadly we spent a lot of time in our room.  Additionally, one of our favorite parts of cruising is the food.  The food was very low quality to the point that we could barely eat it by the end.  I have never felt that way about any cruise before.

Also, we paid for a mini-suite and had 2 teenagers.  The bed for them was a sofa bed.  When pulled out it was big enough for 2 young children.  Our teenager's feet hung off the end of the bed for 8 nights.  I wasn't mentioned anywhere that the bed would be too small for teenage children.

The best part was our cabin steward was excellent.  The shows on the ship were very well done.  They were some of the best that I had ever seen.

Sadly, we most likely would never sail with them again!
