Overall, I would not recommend this itinerary on the Jade.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
Other than the poor signage at Port of Miami, embarkation with NCL on the Jade went very smoothly. I was happy to see that they have eliminated the muster drills and replaced it with just getting your key card scanned at your muster station after boarding.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
2 out of 5
Our greatest disappointment was the food. We sailed on the Jade 5 years ago and the food was much better. The first evening in the main dining room, I had to send my entree back and change t for something else because it tasted bad. On another night I ordered the N.Y. strip steak and it didn't look like a strip steak, was not tender, and had no flavor. The service in the main dining room was also very poor. We had to ask multiple times to get toast and they would bring 1 slice. The buffet meal choices were good, but the desserts were flavorless. The one highlight was dinner at Le Bistro. The service was excellent and the food was delicious.
Onboard Activities
4 out of 5
The pool area and hot tubs were good, though very packed on our day at sea, even though the ship was not full.
Entertainment
3 out of 5
The comic they booked for 2 shows was not that funny. We went to the first show and saw numerous guests leave before we finally left also about half way through the show. We didn't bother to see the 2nd show. The musicians they had performing were a mixed bag. We did really enjoy listening to Lucas play and sing. He is very talented. The highlight was the magic act from Spain.
Service and Staff
3 out of 5
Again, not the greatest service we've had on a cruise. I think our room steward was over tasked with too many rooms for just himself to handle. Many of the waiters in the main dining room appeared to be in training. The bartenders and the servers in Le Bistro were very good.
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
The common areas were clean, but it appeared worn and dated. The ship was exactly as it was 5 years ago when we sailed on it. No updates whatsoever.
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
The cabin size was as expected for what we paid. It was just dated and looked worn. The sofa for sitting was very hard and uncomfortable. They could also have provided an ottoman to sit at the small desk.
We could not visit Great Stirrup Cay because the weather conditions were not safe for tendering to the island. We had the day at sea instead. Very disappointing.
