We sailed out of Galveston. We really had no idea how things were done and it was ALL OVER b4 we knew it đđŸ Looking back it was a pleasant experience and weâd like to embark from Galveston again one day
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
4 out of 5
As we booked last minute and weâre on a severe budget, we had none of the customary âFree-at-Seaâ add-ones which can usually be expected with NCL. That being said, we enjoyed the main dining. Belgian waffles at breakfast with pork substitutions. The eggs to order section of the buffet was also a fave. (We love breakfast) Crepes, oatmeal, home fries, and all the fixins our southern appetites desired. Though, the grits werenât up to par. Overall, we likely gained the customary 10 pounds. And we made sure to get the drinks pkg and specialty dining on ALL subsequent NCL cruises. Cagneyâs is a must.
Didnât do many shows on this first cruise. But weâve enjoyed several since
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
On the first sea day, several bartenders learned our preferences and were making our drinks before we could order. Nowhere did we encounter anyone who wasnât ready to cheerfully serve us. Note: we were in a guarantee inside, didnât tip more than a dollar, and not once did we feel like any waiter, bartender, or staff were put off by that. (Next cruise we brought more cash. Quite a few of the same staff remembered us even though we hadnât shelled out much dough. It made us want to when we sailed aboard the Jade again on our second cruise out of Tampa)
Ship Quality
3 out of 5
It was small and clean. Even having never sailed before, we knew the ship wasnât large. It was easy to navigate and get around quickly on. Iâd recommend it over larger ships for any with mobility challenges. We loved the less than 5 minute walk between venues and were never late to scheduled activities even when waiting at the bar for a drink to go!
Cabin / Stateroom
3 out of 5
Nice, clean, not too noisy⊠and COMPLETELY DARK when we shut the lights off. No way other than our phones or opening the door to tell if it was day or night. We were slow to breakfast a couple times because the sun didnât wake us
A very sad affair. We hung around as long as possible simply because we werenât ready to leave. And 10 cruises later, still donât understand those who are in a hurry to disembark đ€·đŸââïž
Completely agree with you about disembarkation, I'm among the last to leave. Since I had a stress-free cruise, why would I put that kind of pressure on myself, especially if it can be avoided.
