This was our 7th cruise on Norwegian and will probably sail again in the next few years. Time to do something different for a change.
Embarkation
5 out of 5
We had VIP service, so getting on and off the ship was a breeze.
Ship experiences
Food and Dining
5 out of 5
We were very pleased with the quality and selection of food at the Garden buffet. It was some of the best we have experienced on previous cruises. We also ate at 3 of the specialty restaurants on the Jade. La Cucina, Cagney's, and Le Bistro. The food and service at all 3 were excellent, with Cagney's being our favorite. The restaurant staff on the Jade were some of the hardest working people I have ever witnessed.
Onboard Activities
3 out of 5
The usual cruise ship activities we've experienced, and the Jade was no exception. Towel folding demonstrations, fruit carving, trivia contests... Yawn
Entertainment
4 out of 5
The evening entertainment was standard cruise ship fare. Palace of Lights was a variation of Havana, a show we had seen on the Bliss a week earlier. Very nice production.
Service and Staff
5 out of 5
All of the staff on the Jade were exceptional given the fact that they have probably been on the ship for 6 months or more. These folks are truly special.
Ship Quality
5 out of 5
The Norwegian Jade was immaculate for an older ship. Every inch of the Jade was clean and well maintained. We were on the Bliss a week earlier, a ship less than a year old, and we liked the Jade much better.
Cabin / Stateroom
5 out of 5
We had an Aft Balcony Penthouse Suite. Not as luxurious as it sounds, but a very clean, comfortable cabin. The perks that come with a suite are worth the extra money in my opinion. Priority boarding, disembarkation, private breakfast and lunch in the specialty restaurants, butler and concierge service. This has definitely ruined us for any other type of cabin on a ship.
Harvest Caye is owned by NCLHC. It is a resort island that will give you none of the local feel. We did not do an excursion in Belize as it requires a 3 hour round trip bus ride to most of the excursions.
We did an excursion to the Mayan Ruins at Chacchoben. A 2 hour round tip bus ride to the ruins, with 2 hours spent at the actual site. All in all a very enjoyable afternoon.
