Review summary

It was a 9-day cruise that went to Visby (Sweden), Tallin (Estonia), Stockholm (Sweden), Helsinki (Finland), Berlin (Germany), and Frederica (Denmark).

Embarkation

3 out of 5
It was good, a little slow. The time they gave didn’t match the time we were allowed in so we waited for 3 hours to board. The service was also slow.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
The food in the main dining room was good however the food in the buffet was ehh. It was the same each day and for a 9 day cruise this wasn’t the best. In addition, there weren’t many included options. O’Sheehans was okay, nothing special. My whole family found that the food on Carnival was A LOT better. I cannot express how much better the food on Carnival was compared to this cruise.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Ropes course was a lot of fun, however one side of the ropes course was often closed due to the funnel being so short. The water slides were also fun, but the temperature to do the water park was cold and windy (not Norwegians fault). Due to the addition of scrubbers to the funnel, they got rid of a rock climbing wall, kids playground, and mini golf. This was a huge bummer. They had the space for it, however I guess Norwegian didn’t want to spend the money to add them again.

Entertainment

1 out of 5
It was okay. None of the music was great, and the broadway shows were boring.

Children's Programs

1 out of 5
My kids went once and didn’t like it.

Service and Staff

3 out of 5
They were good. Nothing special, but some of the staff went above and beyond to know our names. The staff was better than Royal Caribbean, however the staff was nowhere near the level we have witnessed with Carnival.

Ship Quality

2 out of 5
It was clean, and the ship’s layout was pretty straight forward. Nothing to brag about, but it wasn’t bad. Actually…I just remembered that the vibrations on the ship were horrible. They were constant, and you could feel it everywhere you would go. I have never ever been on a ship with vibrations, but they weren’t great and was a constant annoyance on the cruise.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
There wasn’t enough storage for 9 days. We got a mini suite, however it was the size of a regular balcony for Carnival. There is one major thing that was HORRIBLE. The vibrations on the ship were horrendous. You were constantly shaking and it never stopped, even when in port.

Ship tip

I would recommend a Carnival Cruise instead of Norwegian. The value is a lot better on Carnival, and I don’t think anything Norwegian did was better than Carnival.

Disembarkation

We just walked off the ship. It was quick and easy, but then again there wasn’t customs in Denmark. However the terminal is super far from the train station and this caused long lines for the train to go to town.

This makes me nervous as someone who loves Carnival and has just booked on the Getaway
