Review summary

I definitely look forward to cruising Norwegian again. The staff was terrific. Being free to dress and dine whenever we wanted was everything to us. Cruising from our home city (NY) made things super easy and much less expensive. We didn’t like the food but it was good enough. The Burn the Floor show was the greatest!

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Orderly process. Port agents patient and courteous. Embarked at around 11:00ish in the morning, earlier than expected.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Across the buffet and the restaurants, there were a few yummy items, but most of the food was meh, buffet dishes tended not to be hot. I really appreciated the staff asking us about allergies at virtually every establishment we dined at.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Plenty of activities throughout the day. We spent the majority of our time walking, playing at the casino and lounging on the sun deck.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The show Burn The Floor is a must-see!!

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Ship staff were helpful and kind.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Ship was consistently maintained throughout the day.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
PROS: Spacious enough for two and clean. Plenty of storage. Soft, comfy bed. Unobstructed views from balcony. Hand soap, shower gel and shampoo supplied. CONS: No outlets by nightstand on either side of bed. Limited channel lineup. Wonky remote control. Overall, excellent cabin!

Ship tip

Don’t pay for a water package in advance, it was less expensive onboard plus once onboard you might find purchasing it unnecessary. Coffee, tea, and flavored water are complimentary and available all day.

Ports of call

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
The Bahamian merchants we encountered were straight hustlers and were not open to negotiating prices. Nothing much to do at the port if you didn’t book an excursion, but you can still shop, drink and grab some food. You must take transportation to Margaritaville (the restaurant) and the Atlantis resort which we were not comfortable doing given the time we had available before having to return to the ship. Make sure to get some rum cake and your passport stamped in the customs area!

Port Canaveral, Florida

5 out of 5
I did the Icon Park excursion. It had great dining options and attractions. Not a humongous place like the Disney parks so it’s great for those who don’t want to do a lot of walking. Good vacation vibes. Excellent restroom facilities. The transportation to/from excursion was surprisingly punctual.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

5 out of 5
I enjoyed the island without doing an excursion. Played volleyball and waded in the pristine ocean. Food was okay, standard cookout fare. Weather was perfect. Had to leave by 4pm, wished we could’ve stayed longer.

Disembarkation

3 out of 5
More congested than embarkation day. Masks not enforced.

Thanks for the review. I think Pam was referring to Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville on Paradise Island. We also did a day pass at Margaritaville Beach Resort 4 weeks ago. It was indeed a 15 minute walk from the ship. We enjoyed it. Wish we had more time there. Ship left at 2pm!!

Thanks for your honest review and tips . We are going on Sunday in the Getaway. We are planning to walk to Margaritaville since we bought a pass for the day . They said it’s only about 15 minutes away . Did you visit there ?

Very interesting and well written review. Thank you. We really enjoy cruising with NCL and love sailing out of NYC. Get to visit my hometown (Brooklyn) for a day or two on every cruise from there.
