Review summary

I would not recommend this exact cruise because I was not crazy about the ports, but I was crazy about Norwegian and the cruise itself and I would definitely recommend Norwegian to other people. I will be looking at Norwegian firstly when I look for my next cruise.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Everything went as smooth as could be. You couldn't expect any smoother

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We ate at the buffet 95% of the time which should tell you how much we liked it. That is why we rated things as 4 stars since we did not eat at the other restaurants. Unfortunately the soft ice cream machines were not working for half the cruise. Id say that for the most part everything else was great

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We didn't do any of these activities however knowing that they were available was great for others if they were able to use them

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Most of the stage shows etc were awesome. I would recommend that they consider changing their house 80's rock band as they could not harmonize, or keep a beat other wise I would recommend the hire the band they had playing in Syd Normans Pour House, the one with 4 band members and 3 singers, the male singer from England, 1 female from Scotland and the other female from the United States). This band should be the Top Bill on the boat. The Howling Pianos were also super awesome. Jo on the piano had a fantastic voice and she could really tickle the ivories, it was too bad that she was leaving the ship when we docked in New Orleans. I also though Jojo the assistant cruise director should be promoted to Cruise Director. He had more personality and entertainment going for him than the actual cruise director.

Children's Programs

I did not have kids on the trip with me

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
They were always smiling, appeared to be happy, friendly, helpful. Always ready and willing to help in any way. They are awesome and deserve to be treated well, and share in any profits that Norwegian may encounter because if there are bonuses, you can be sure it will be because of these hard workers.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Everything was very clean and well maintained. The ship was easy to get around.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Our room was comfortable, clean and the view was great. It was better than I had expected. Everything was great

Ports of call

New Orleans, Louisiana

4 out of 5
It is okay. The signage is not clearly seeable and the streets are not so easy to find.

Harvest Caye, Belize

3 out of 5
I felt it was just a makeshift island and not the real thing or at least we did not dock near the real township/city of Harvest Caye.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

3 out of 5
Same as above

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Weather and I did not want to use the Tenders

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

4 out of 5
The fact that we seemed to actually be on the Island of Ochoas Rios and not a makeshift island was good. The vendors were very friendly.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
This was as easy as leaving a movie theatre that was not crowded. We just basically walked right through. There could have been some more signage for persons catching a cab though

You have to research the ports, especially when you’re spending so much money on a cruise. Harvest Caye was created by the government of Belize, in conjunction with NCL. It is man made, leased by NCL from the government.

I always research cruise itineraries and ports ahead of time (Youtube videos, reviews, etc.) so I know what to expect and whether it is worthwhile to me. It's a shame you didn't enjoy the ports of call as much. The buffet to me is mediocre, but everyone's taste is different. They used to put out fresh salmon at breakfast, but the cruiselines seem to be getting more basic with the complimentary dining and focusing more on up charging for better food choices and quality.

You should not be complaining about the ports as you are the one that picked the ship and itinerary. You could have hone to so many other ports on that same ship. And you don’t know what you’re missing eating most of your meals at buffet. MDR on all ships is fabulous. Much better food than buffets and you get served. So nice. We love it,
