Review summary

We would definitely cruise again and highly recommend Norwegian. This would be a great ship to bring the kids on. Seemed to be lots of activities for them and ample food options. We orginally decided on the four day cruise because we had never been. We didn't want to be stuck on a ship for a week if we hated it. It would have been nice to have more days in Bermuda or to explore more islands. Also not sure I would cruise out of New York in April again. Maybe head to a Florida port and go the Caribbean from there. Still had a great time and made the most of it despite the overcast weather.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The wait staff were very polite and service oriented. Even when the dining rooms seemed busy the service was still good. Lots a staff clearing tables and seating new people quickly. The buffet food was always plentiful and fresh. Only ate breakfast and lunch there. The specialty restaurant experience was great! We had dinner at Cagney's Steakhouse one night. O'Sheehan's was quite busy most of the time. Service was a little slower but they were often overwhelmed with large crowds because of their location.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Because of the time of year we didn't take full advantage of all the activities. We did do the ropes course which was fun but we did it once and were good with it. The pool area was often crowded and loud, even with it being cooler weather. Fun place to be if you like that kind of thing. Despite there being four hot tubs, which I thought was a lot, they were always full. Again, probably because of the cooler weather.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We went to the Burn the Floor show one night which was excellent! Highly recommend! Also went to The Million Dollar Quartet show. That was good as well but wasn't really our type of music. Great actors/singers and story though! We spent a couple of nights at Headliners Comedy Club watching the dueling piano performers. They were great! Very entertaining and interacted ALOT with the audience.

Children's Programs

We didn't have children with us.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Wait staff at all the restaurants were great. Very polite and paid attention to detail. Most of the bartenders were attentive. Some stood out more than others. They did not forget you, when you tipped for excellent service. Others just acted like it was a job. Weren't rude but not as friendly. Our room steward was fantastic! Did much more in our room every day than was expected and checked in with us every night to see if we needed anything and personally delivered the next days activities to us. He could have easily just left that in our room when he came in to clean. Again, much attention to detail when it came to service.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
This ship was immaculate in my opinion. Even the balcony and outdoor areas. I expected much more wear and tear for the amount of people that congregate on these ships and the time that they are in the salt water out at sea. Our room was very clean and our steward was awesome! Did much more than expected. All of the dining and common areas where clean. Nothing looked worn or outdated. Very impressed with the cleanliness. Navigating around the ship was a little difficult for me but I'm sure that was just me. I don't have a great sense of direction. There was a lot of help though. The signage was ample and many staff members around that were happy to point you in the right direction. The attention to detail went right down to the design of the carpet. The small fish in the carpet help point you in the right direction depending on if you are going to front or the back of the ship. Kind of wish they had that in the main carpet areas down the middle of the ship, not just in the carpet near the rooms.

Cabin / Stateroom

Our room was actually a little bit bigger than I expected. Very comfortable for the two of us. Would have been a little cramped with more adults though. The cleanliness was excellent. Our room steward was outstanding! Bed was comfortable and towels and bedding were great quality.

Ship tip

If you come across a busy bar or noisy area, keep looking. There are quiet bars and less busy areas hidden all over the ship. Explore, explore, explore. You will find your favorite spot!

Ports of call

New York, New York

Easy to get to. The parking was slim. Have a plan B for an alternative parking garage, although there are plenty to choose from in the area. Was in a nice part of the city. Lots of parks and old buildings. We walked into the city from the port when we got back. Visited Time Square which wasn't too long of a walk. Time Square was a little busy for me but the walk in was great. Nice architecture and choices for places to eat. Great area to visit if your not really a city person and just want to see a little part of it.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

The port was beautiful even just from our balcony on the ship. Very historic and very, very clean. We didn't venture far from port. It was a rain overcast day. Decided to explore town a little. The shopping areas were busy and crowded, which was expected. The buildings and architecture were gorgeus and so well kept. Very photogenic place. Also went to the National Museum of Bermuda. Definitely worth it! Spent half the day there walking around and in the museum. Bermuda has perserved a lot of their history right there. Had lunch at the Frog and Onion Pub and Brewery. Good food, beer and service. Nice and casual. Bermuda was a little expensive but again, that was expected. Was disppointed we didn't make it to the beach but well worth the visit anyways! Would definitely come back to this island and explore more.

The lines getting on and off the ship were not bad at all. The process was fast and easy. Must admit I was dreading this the most.
