Review summary

Employee went above and beyond but thats where the positive with NCL stops. List of several complaints:

1. Food cafeteria style (it's a cruise not a school!)

2. Food was poor quality but not upscale. I'd expect that for a suite level cruise!

3. Elevators only located in aft and forward and half were not in working order. Royal has elevators in mid ship.

4. Outdoor bathroom uncleanly to say the least.

5. Guest Services overcharged my debit card by $600 and 3 days after the cruise still no answer from NCL!

6. Spa lotions are cheap quality and overpriced services

7. Activities are ALL PAID. They should be included.

8. Activities had to be reserved. I'm on a cruise. I don't want to think about time!

9. The main show was the one free activity and the actors were not very talented.

10. Excursions were cancelled without warning with no alternatives provided.

11. Pool and jacuzzis not accessible after 10pm anywhere due to "teen" parties and other paid events.

I've been on Celebrity, Royal, and Carnival. I would take Carnival over this joke of a cruise line ANYDAY!!!

The problem is people expect everything for nothing. I have been in almost every cruise line, they all have pros and cons but NCL is better then carnival. The dining rooms are ok but the speciality restaurants are fantastic! Stop complaining

I have to agree, I have had better cruises on Carnival and RCI then on NCL. NCL is bottom of my list of cruise lines. The person that could not understand the review stays in The Haven, not the same as the rest of the ship. That would be like flying first class and saying to people in coach "what do you mean cramped seats and no food"? You need to compare apples to apples

What activities did you have to pay for..? I'm just kind of confused, as I've rarely ever seen activities (other than excursions) with a cost on the cruises that I have been on..

We loved the food on the magic. By far more superior than that on the allure. Just our opinion. But we would never base our cruise on food. We would be happy with pizza and burgers the whole week

It's funny reading some reviews I've been on the Getaway four time in the last year and never experienced those thing,granted I was in the Haven each time. Oh by the way we are Platinum on Carnival,Diamond plus on Royal and now Platinum on NCL I'll take freestyle cruising any day. As a matter of fact getting on the Escape Sat can't wait. By the way elevators are a third of the way each way.

I am going in April...getting a bit nervous about mixed reviews. I will say though, I find it hard to believe that it could be worse than Carnival. They have the worst quality food that I have ever had. I use to be ok with them, but after our cruise this year with them we are pretty well done. We love RC, we had been on Norwegian years back and liked it and thought we would give them another shot.

There are so many negatives regarding the 3 new ships. I would love to try NCL sometime, but hearing how they charge for just about everything is a joke to me.

Thanks for the review. I agree with you that you shouldn't have to reserve anything while on a cruise. Unless it is specialty dining. Carnival Magic was awesome. I hear and read a lot that this freestyle isn't really freestyle as NCL says it is.
