We had a blast on our family cruise -- there were 7 of us (4 adults, 3 kids). The kids loved everything about it from the activities, to the kids program, to the endless buffet. There were fun things and parties for the adults to do as well - but this is definitely a family ship, I wouldn't recommend it for a romantic adult vacation. The food was ok -- lots of quantity and a decent amount of variety - but by day 4 you'll be ready to eat off the ship.

Food and Dining
3 out of 5
You'll eat the majority of your meals in the Garden Cafe - its an endless buffet. For the first 3 days this worked fine for us, but by day 4 it was quite repetitive. We switched to dinners at the Tropicana Room, Savor and O'Sheehans -- the food was different, but wasn't actually better. We ate in the Illusionarium, same. There was a time when cruises were known for having amazing food -- I think those days are gone. Now it appears to be about quantity and not as much about being a "food experience".

Entertainment

The Illusionarium was very cool. The dance parties were fun. Burn the floor was ok -- very repetitive, every dance looked the exact same - and an hour+ of latin dance was too much. Would have been cool if it was more like "So you think you can dance" where they showcase a variety of dance styles. The stand up comedy wasn't funny at all. Armen the Cruise Director was great - had a good personality to make the games fun/funny.
Children's Programs

Was nice to have a place for the kids to go at night so we could have some adult time. They had fun, and I felt comfortable that they were safe.

Our cabin was awesome - and our steward was amazing!
Ship tip
The Getaway was a great ship for family cruising. The kids program was fun for the kids, the kid pool and slides were great, the kids loved the buffet and endless ice cream. There were fun parties/activities for adults too - but this is a great ship for families, not a romantic adult vaca.
We took the Fury Catamaran snorkeling and to the beach. The snorkeling was ok - not great, although our kids didn't know the difference. The beach was awesome.
