Review summary
We've been on many, many cruises over the years, but NCL only twice. The Getaway was a new ship that was poorly maintained the moment we arrived to the room. I had to have housekeeping come to the room to clean the coffee station area from hair and a leftover pod in the machine and a soiled garbage can. My friends stayed in a room on the 5th floor for 4 days before being moved to another room due to the bathroom plumbing stench odor. It was a disgusting odor. The gave her a $200 shipboard credit. The food had a lot to be desired. Not much looked appetizing and not as many choices in the buffet as on other ships. Chicken dinner at one of the restaurants was soooo salty it was inedible. Very disappointing in the food department. Not happy that we had to pay for various shows and entertainment on the ship. Cover charges for many of the restaurants and coffee was so bad, the only way to get a good cup of java was to purchase it. Some areas of the ship could have been better maintained. The bathrooms, and elevators mostly. The shows were well done, but the location (Atrium) area was absolutely the wrong place to hold anything. No seating, couldn't see anything, couldn't enjoy as much as we wanted. We had to stand and peek through other people to see what was going on. Why not just have it in the Theater? We couldn't find any comfortable chairs, lounger chairs or seating anywhere on the ship. The bed was comfortable though. Excursion to Parasailing we had to walk 15 minutes in the heat (told it would only take 8 minutes) to get there while the tour guide stopped and talked to someone for another 5 minutes before we proceeded. Why not have transportation to the dock for the $99 for 5 minutes of parasailing? NCL is not the cruise ship for us and won't be sailing it again.
