Review summary

The cruise was great itself, but disembarkation lacked communication and organization. Will not cruise on the Gem again as a result

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Embarkation was quick and easy

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Good food

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Plenty to do. A lot of things are held in the atrium though which is always wall to wall people. It makes for an unpleasant experience. Specially when the Spinnaker and Theatre hold way more people and would be more suitable

Entertainment

Service and Staff

5 out of 5

Ship Quality

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Standard indoor cabin

Ship tip

Driving around is confusing

Disembarkation

1 out of 5
Worst disembarkation I have ever experienced. Times getting changed we were made to stand in line for hours. Because we were non US citizens we were forced to carry our own bags off the ship. An hour after our original face to face customs clearance we still were standing in a line with all our bags not moving.

The best way to ease disembarkation is simply not being in a rush. So many people want to be the first ones off the ship. Have breakfast in the MDR and take your time. It’s a much better way to end your cruise.

Glad you enjoyed until at the end.

Disembarkation has nothing to do with the ship. I think it comes down to too many people showing up too early and trying to get to the buffet line. I'd rather show up after noon and avoid the hassle, but to each his/her own.

Cruise line gas nothing to do with customs. They can't control that.

Glad that you had a good cruise. Hope that your next debarkation experience is better. I have had quick and orderly ones and crowded/not so orderly ones.
