Review summary

Overall it was a great trip. The Bermuda Triangle evening cruise I would not do again, but the Clearwater Beach excursion we will do again. On the ship there were only two things that we liked better on the Dawn, (our Bermuda cruise last year). That was the layout by the pool for enjoying the bands and other entertainment by the pool. The other was the chairs in the same area. On the Dawn there were couches and comfortable chairs plus more tables, for those of us that wanted to enjoy some sun but not be in a lounger.

I found the complimentary food to be better on the Gem than it was on the Dawn. The specialty restaurants were great. We ate at Le Bistro, Moderno, and Cagney’s. The buffet bbq by the pool was great.

Onboard Activities

There is not enough seating near the pool area. This is one area the Dawn was much better. People will move your stuff if you go to grab food. On the first day we were near the pool and then they did the emergency drill, when we came back people had moved our stuff and taken hour chairs. Another time we were gone for 15 minutes to go to the bathroom and two chairs had been taken. There are plenty of chairs though if you want to be away from the pool and the music.

The shows were very good. Although the gymnast brothers were only okay. The guitarist (Dave) and piano player (Justin) was amazing.
