Review summary

Overall we had an amazing time, even with 2 rainy sea days.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We had a suite but arrived at noon so we didn’t have time to enjoy the lounge in the terminal- it was awesome being escorted straight to Cagneys for lunch.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
While the food wasn’t gourmet across the board it was plentiful, hot, and always available. Our biggest challenge was getting the childrens’ menu meals brought to the table- it was always super slow and sometimes arrived up to an hour after we ordered and all the adult food had been finished.

Garden Café

5 out of 5

If you’re a coffee drinker don’t miss the special fresh brew machine near the back towards the Great Outdoors!

Great Outdoors Bar

5 out of 5

One of the best things about the Gem- and there were always snacks available here.

Grand Pacific Main Dining Room

5 out of 5

Great service.

Teppanyaki

5 out of 5

Tastiest and best meal of the whole trip. Our hibachi chef was amazing.

Orchid Garden Asian Restaurant

3 out of 5

Potstickers were good. Fried rice was okay. Sushi was weird. We ordered 5 other dishes and didn’t eat any of them. A letdown unfortunately.

Cagney's Steakhouse

5 out of 5

Delicious steak.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The cruise staff tried their best but it’s a smaller ship so there’s not much to do, especially when it rains.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Honestly I greatly missed the Second City shows. This ship is very VERY loud and I didn’t find that any of the lounge singers were worth sitting and listening to at top volume. We went to the welcome show to preview the entertainment and then chose not to see any of it. I guess I’ve been spoiled by larger ships.

Children's Programs

3 out of 5
My 3 kids all tried out Splash Academy and Enourage but only one kid chose to go more than a couple of times.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every single staff member we came across was polite, kind, happy, helpful. We had no complaints, not even a little one! Amazing staff!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
It’s an older ship but they kept on top of the maintenance and cleaning very well.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
So there were pros and cons to this cabin but I still rate it 5 stars. The cabin itself is incredibly comfortable and well appointed. The location of the cabin isn’t great. Lots of noise from the pool deck above (though we had been reassured repeatedly that this wasn’t the case). We would do a suite again in a heartbeat but not in this room again!

Ship tip

On port days order breakfast room service and request a pitcher of ice water to fill your water bottles.

It’s home.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We were Suites so we had delicious breakfast at Moderno at 7:30, got to the theater for disembarkation at 8:30 and were literally in the car heading home by 8:45. So smooth it was like a dream!
