Review summary
Overall it was an amazing cruise Bermuda is gorgeous and the Norwegian gem was a great ship. We had one issue with The woman in charge of allergies for all restaurants she did not understand that peanuts are a legume and not a tree nut. This caused some issues with her being extremely overly protective of preparation of my food when it was not necessary. Even after we spoke to her she insisted on preparing not only my food in a separate kitchen but my mothers as well even though she didn’t have the allergy. Our meal at magenta was completely ruined because of this issue we waited almost 45 minutes for food prepared in another kitchen that ended up being bland and unflavored. We did however address the issue on board with Deron The restaurant manager and this woman’s boss. we hope that by talking to the restaurant manager future cruisers will have an easier time when it comes to food allergies then we did. I wish we had never told anyone about my food allergy and just watched out for common foods with peanuts and made those decisions myself. I realize that the cruise ship is trying to keep me safe but it’s a little crazy how far they go with the protection methods, especially when the person in charge of this is not educated properly.Embarkation

Garden Café
Pretty good breakfast! Lots of options. Mom and I didn’t like lunch options or quality as much as their breakfast. But we don’t eat big lunches. Hamburgers and salads were good enough. Buffet stations were kept as clean as possible considering how busy it always was. People who came around to clean or offer coffee or juice are so nice and friendly!
Orchid Garden Asian Restaurant
Only food on the ship we didn’t like. Did not like flavors of this Chinese food.
La Cucina Italian Restaurant
Had an amazing beef Osso buco. Had a pasta appetizer, marinara could have had more flavor
Cagney's Steakhouse
Amazing steak!! Service great! Make u feel like vip
Onboard Activities

Lots of slot machine options my mom and I would spend a few hours every night at the casino probably spending too much money but it was fun.

Take advantage of all outdoor places on the ship for amazing views of the water. There are places to sit almost anywhere on the ship to just relax read a book or look at the waves.
