Review summary

My first cruise was better than I expected. I enjoyed the food for the most part. I will cruise Norwegian again!!!

Embarkation

Seemed a bit crowded for such an early boarding, but easy enough.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
The buffet was a little better than I expected but, the specialty restaurants were a bit disappointing. Most people on the cruise raves about Moderno but, I found the food just mediocre.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
Too cold for pools but, understandable for cruising to Bermuda in April. The spa was expensive but the Thermal packywas so worth it on a cool overcast day! Did not do fitness car, or rock climbing.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
The one show we schedule to see was cancelled due to choppy seas. We saw a comedian who was pretty entertaining.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
I was very impressed with the staff in all the restaurants and dining rooms. Our Steward Richie was amazing so attentive, quick and friendly!!!!

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The staff in the casino were not as friendly as the rest of the ship. The bathrooms around the larger gathering areas like the Spinnaker, the casino, the Atrium, and the theater needed updating and were more often dirty than clean. Wet sinks, toilet paper and paper towels on floor.

Cabin / Stateroom

We had a balcony mini suite. The beds were a bit saggy. The linens were very nice. The art work in front of the beds was bizarre?? The TV was WAY too small!!! Remove the crazy art work and put a larger flat screen TV!! We ordered room service for breakfast and other than a small padded stool for the desk area, there was no flat surface to eat. Either deliver food with a cart or have a folding table in room. No plugs near bed, only one plug at desk area. The bathroom had a tub/shower combo. No one but a small child could actually take a bath in that tub. Also, both me and my friend had difficulty getting in and out of the shower since we are short and it was very hard lifting our legs to get in the high tub/shower area. There was plenty of storage in the closet, drawers and desk area for two people, although if you had 3 or four in the room it would be very tight. The balcony was roomy and private. Only about two announcements from the captain actually played in our cabin...the rest were only played in the halls and common areas. So if we were in our cabin we had to open our door to hear announcements.

Ship tip

Order the water. It’s expensive but worth it. We ordered 24 1 liter bottles for 7 days and had 10 left over, so the 12pk should be good for 2 people. Don’t bother with magnets, hangers, over the door shoe racks...in the mini suite there was plenty of storage. The online excursions were more expensive but, it sort of forces you to get up and get out while in port. Avoid the casino...never saw one big winner!! Hated the Bingo...was expensive and damn you can do bingo at home!!!

Ports of call

Boston, Massachusetts

Live near Boston, sailed out of Boston.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

The port had a lot of construction at the dock but, everything else about the port and Bermuda was beautiful. The glass bottom boat snorkel tour was great. We very much enjoyed the Rum Swizzle Sunset Catamaran tour.

Disembarkation

Very chaotic. What was the point of the luggage tag colors?? Everyone seemed to be getting off at the same time. Long lines.
