Review summary

This was my first cruise experience. I booked a 7 day cruise and unfortunately I only lasted 2 days. I was very seasick and I was forced to leave the ship at the first port. I also had taken out travelers insurance just in case anything went wrong. Norwegian never told me to see a Doc before I get off the ship so I would be compensated for the $1300 I had spent. When I contacted the insurance company they told me to ask Norwegian to write a letter on my behalf to back up my story. Guess what? Norwegian refused to write a letter and support me. I also called them numerous times and they would leave me on hold sometimes for 30min! They have no loyalty and did nothing to help me to get my money back from the insurance company. All I wanted was a letter backing up that I was too sick to continue the cruise and they could not even do that. Shame on you Norwegaian. I expect more from your company and I am bitter to them for not helping someone who paid 7 days for a cruise that lasted 2 days. Furthermore when I was leaving the ship they should have notified me to see a MD if I intended to be compensated for my trip with the travelers insurance.

It felt like a jail cell. It was way too small!

Ship tip

If you ever get seasick don't rely on Norwegian to help you. They have no loyalty.

Why is it Norwegian's fault for you being sea sick.

Terrible!! Thx for sharing and good luck....

Not NCL’s fault you couldn’t get any insurance money You need to do your own research and know all that could be needed for you to make a claim“ just in case”. Don’t think you will be cruising again but if you do I’m sure you will be a lot more educated in all the different aspects of it

The Doctors on board can give injectable medication to stop seasickness if you had visited them.

How can you expect Norwegian to back up your story if you never went to medical bay onboard? And if this is your first cruise why would you expect “loyalty” from NCL? It must have been terrible to be so sea sick, I completely sympathize with you.

Sorry you got sick and had to leave.. Next time you travel take Dramamine with you take a room in the middle to back of the ship, wristbands and green apples for seasickness.💖👍🏼🛳

It’s unfortunate you ended your cruise early due to sea sickness, but how are you blaming NCL? When you purchased your insurance policy did you read it? It usually describes the steps you need to take for reimbursement and of course they would need some sort of proof if not they would have everyone and their mother submitting false claims.

I am assuming you are an adult. This would be your responsibility not the doctor or the ship employees. The insurance contract most likely described in detail what they would expect from you as far as paperwork and proof for your claim.
