Review summary

So the staff was amazing.  The food was average, just too repetitive.  The boat is really clean and well kept.  The shows were below average.  The alcohol package was a must!  Now onto the arcade:  miserable.  They allow my 11 year old to use his card to swipe the $2 games.  I gave him permission to play 10 games per day=$20.  On day 4 I get a notice on my stateroom door that they need me at the front desk.  I go and find out his total so far on day 4 was $360!!!!!!!  I almost vomited all over them.  My son told me the card wasn't swiping so he kept doing it over and over and over again.  The print out they gave us only showed the DATE not the TIME he swiped so I had no way to prove it.  Needless to say I will never cruise with them again.  I was totally depressed the rest of my stay.  UNFAIR!!!!!

That was ncl fault you have to watch your kids

esm54687    7 years ago

agree with you Gina 100%...... if the son swiped 180 times over just 4 days and nothing happened and said nothing to NCL or the parents then there's a bigger issue. ☺

I have to say that a couple of years ago I went into the arcade and watched my 21 yr old swipe his card on a game, nothing happened. he did it again same thing. moved to another game it worked. BUT he ended up getting charged for 3 games. we never went back to the arcade for that reason. so I can see how it would happen.

JimandThomas: hahaha this is 2017 and no one takes personal responsibility.... it's always "someone else's job"..... my parents would've eaten the cost and I'd. be paying them back with chores for months

NCL is not the parent, you are. Take some responsibility for your own child. Hmmm, maybe he was lying? I'm the parent of two children, ages 10 and 12 and I would NEVER give them the ability to charge anything on their cards. As a matter of fact, we don't even bring our kids with us when we cruise...adult vacation time only!!!

What is nbsp

esm54687    7 years ago

klis: you can but it takes some effort 1) when you get on ship, go to Guest Services and secure that passengers on board account via cash (instead of credit card) 2) put cash on account and that is the spending limit 3) SHOULD pre pay DSC because that is charged daily to each passenger so you don't want the DSC to hit the account and deplete cash. - This is no different then 2 friends travelling in the same room but want to pay their expenses separately.....

is there a way that NCL can set a limit on a child's card?

dculpepper1    7 years ago

Not NCL fault. He's 11 he just wanted to play games... normal 11 year old. Instead of blaming NCL why don't you use this as a teaching moment and make him pay back the difference from his allowance or chores.

They can set a daily limit on the card

lab341    7 years ago

Can't you set a daily limit, that keeps the kids under control? When it's gone for the day they can mine golf for free

toyathecruiser    7 years ago

that wasn't ncl fault.

wolfy321    7 years ago

I really don't think that's NCL's fault...

nyceone    7 years ago

They did notify you about the unusual activity on his card

I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. Are there other avenues you could use to help you?

calypso2016    7 years ago

never let your kid loose in the arcade with charging privledges.

viviennepagano    7 years ago

Check you billing daily! Lesson learned the hard way could have been a lot worse if they didn't ask to see you on the 4th day. Could you imagine what it would have been on the last day

lab341    7 years ago

I check our account daily and we don't have young kids anymore, but I have to keep an eye on that casino 🎰 fun. I'm sure they give no refunds on that either lol.

tjwall    7 years ago

Not ncl issue should of checked your billing daily !! Pretty easy with tv screens in the rooms

esm54687    7 years ago

yikes..... I was 11 once.... I'm sure the arcade worked just fine and your son was either impatient or just having a really good time ..... sorry the rest of your trip was depressing because NCL wouldn't refund his entertainment.... I know it sounds like I'm being harsh but..... of course he's going to claim it wasn't his fault
