Maybe the Best Travel Experience Ever!

We Both had other cruises with Princess, Cunard and Royal Caribbean,  but the Gem was just as good and in a lot of ways and even better!

Cabin: We accidentally booked a cabin with a partially-obstructed view. It was still roomy and very clean, our cabin steward made us feel welcome and was very attentive to our needs.

Food: Breakfast was one of the best meal times, with a large variety of mouth watering international dishes, so everyday we had something different. We did make it down to the dinning room as it was a little more quite, but missed the buffet selection. The food was also just as good in the main dining rooms, so we never bothered with speciality. The quality of lobster and lamb was as good as the other cruise lines, and the pasta available every night was great. We found Freestyle dining a great idea.

Entertainment: All the shows were good except for Second City we really did not enjoy it to much. The magician/illusionist's Magika were amazing, one of the best we have seen on cruise ships. With them the Dancers and Singers and Tim Kaminski show they were a high point to our vacation. 

The cruise director Drew and assistant were very entertaining and was always available to offer advice on queries we had. 

The music in the lounges were good and not to loud, we did really enjoy the New generation group.

Regarding the general running of the ship. We did enjoy the peace and quite in the pool deck, on some of the cruise ships we have traveled it is full of crew staff trying to get you out of your chairs to dance! We like the idea that you can go to events and they are not forced upon you. It was also very nice to see the happy crew and staff on the Gem, they made our vacation unforgettable.

just a note... we expetted much more entertainment for Christmas, Sorry to see the best show only at the end of the cruise.

We enjoyed our NCL cruise so much that we are planning to come back for our next cruise vacation. Maybe we will try the Epic.
