We are seasoned cruisers. This was our first Norwegian cruise on the Gem leaving New York 6-21-15. High points were, the  ship was clean and the service staff was amazing! Our Stewardess Judy Reyes was a jewel! Lows were many. Our balcony room was functional but way smaller than any other balcony rooms we have had on other ships. The food was only acceptable in the buffet. Main sit down dining rooms were abysmal. Steak and prime rib were tough as leather, fish was salted uneven, food was cold, bread on sandwiches was dry, food came to us late and appetizers were served with main entrees even though we asked for it before our meal. Leaving the ship on tours, signs pointing to exit gangways were present, but when we got there it was closed and ship personal told us to go to another deck to exit. We will not choose Norwegian for our next cruise.
