Top Shelf Cruise

Sail Date: November 13, 2011

Traveled As: Couple

Room Type: Oceanview

This is our fourth cruise on the Gem. The motivating factor in repeating on the gem is the excellence of the Yin & Yang Spa. It is heaven on earth. The quality of the high pressure water jets is outstnding, and the view from the sauna is the same as from the bridge. Can't get better than that.
The Captain had the opportunity to rescue a lone sailor from his disabled sailboat at 2:30am in rough seas during this cruise. He did a masterful job and it was an exciting operation we watched from our cabin. We hope someone posts it on you tube.

Pros: The Yin & Yang Spa makes the cruise outstanding.

Cons: The quality of the souvenir memorabilia could be better

Recommends Norwegian Gem? Yes!

Ship Quality
The ship is quality costructed with stainless steel components throught. It has a cheerful paint scheme, and well maintained.
Food and Dining
We enjoyed the food on deck as much as in the restraunts. The 24 hour Blue Lagoon is exceptionaly good and convient.
Cabin / Stateroom
Stateroom size is good for a ship of this size. The showers are especially well designed.
Service and Staff
Staff was excellent to the last man.
Entertainment was consistant over the four cruises we took on the Gem.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Improved so much I hardly recognized it from prior cruises. This is the beach trip. Great photos of the ship anchored off shore.
Don't Miss: The water and local shops.
Port Canaveral, Florida
Port Canaverl has expanded much over the years. We usually take the local bus to Wall Mart, the Mall, and Ron Jon's for $10.00 all day. You can bring your towel and wear your swimsuit as the beach is right behing Ron Jon's if you so desire.
Don't Miss: Space Port if you haven't been there. It is near and educational.
Nassau, Bahamas
Atlantis and the straw market do it all.
Don't Miss: Atlantis water park. Expensive but worth it.
