Norwegian Gem

7 Night Bermuda (New York Roundtrip)

Sail date: June 19, 2011

Ship: Norwegian Gem

Cabin type: Balcony

Traveled as: Family (older children)

Reviewed: 13 years ago

Review summary

We really liked the ship except that it was confusing on the first evening to find the main dining room because of the way the ship is set up. The main dining room is on deck 6 but we had to enter it from deck 7. It was not the easiest place to find on that first night.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The quality of the food was excellent, and I believe, a step up from a few years ago.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
The shows and onboard activities were great. There was something for everyone.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Our stateroom staff were wonderful and friendly, and kept our stateroom in "ship shape"!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Except for the diifficulty in finding the main dining room, everything else was excellent. The condition of the public areas was always clean and the decor was lovely. The public restrooms were very clean and were easy to locate because all of them were situated by the stairs and elevators on each deck level.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony room on deck 10, center ship. It was a little close with tthree adults but it was manageable, and the stateroom staff were great. The stateroom was always clean and spotless.

Ports of call

King's Wharf, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Many things have now come to King's Wharf, Bermuda since most of the ships now dock there. There are also many activities right at King's Wharf, such as para sailing, jet skies, excursions, and shopping, among other things. As for restaurants, try the Frog and Onion, or venture "down the road" to the Swizzle Inn. Both are excellent. The Crystal Caves are a must see, as well as the aquariam and zoo. Both are just a bus ride away.
Don't Miss: The restaurants, shopping and activities are all great. There's something for everyone!

Pros: Freestyle cruising

Cons: shortage of crew in the main dining room. They seemed rushed and were not as friendly as waitstaff that we've enjoyed in the past.
