Okay Cruise

Sail Date: April 16, 2011

Room Type: Inside

We had a good time but there were so many kids/teens that ran around the ship. The menus in main dining room were okay but not great variety because they want you to pay extra for the "specialty" restaurants. Cagneys Steakhouse was worth the money we paid. Excellent food and excellent service. Our room was kept tidy for us but room steward was not very friendly. The tender process for Great Stirrup Cay was atrocious and absolute chaos. This could prevent me from leaving the ship at hat port in the future. They are working on expanding the island which wll be nice when it is done. Not one of the better private islands. Disembarkation and embarkation was quick and easy. Overall for the money we paid, we had a good time. The Gem is getting run down and they could do a better job keeping the public bathrooms and general public areas clean.

Pros: Convenience of leaving from NY

Cons: Nickle and dime you for everything onboard

Recommends Norwegian Gem? Yes!

Ship Quality
The Gem is getting run down and they could do a better job keeping the public bathrooms and general public areas clean. We were on this ship when it was new and she was beautiful.
Food and Dining
We are not picky but the variety was lacking. Cagneys Steakhouse was incredible for both the food and the service.
Cabin / Stateroom
Inside room was very small compared to other cruiselines. We had a good location on Deck 9 midship.
Service and Staff
Very friendly staff for the most part. Had a problem with waiters getting us a Pepsi since we had the soda package.
Randy and Second City were the two best entertainers on the ship. Enjoyed their sows.
Nassau, Bahamas
Went to straw market to shop and Blue Lagoon Island for an excursion. Beautiful beach but again need to revise the process of getting everyone there.
Don't Miss: Straw Market
Port Canaveral, Florida
Stayed on ship and so did ALOT of other people.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
They need to revise there tender pocess because it is absolute chaos.
Don't Miss: beach
