Review summary

This was our fourth cruise with NCL and, even though the ports of call were all very interesting, the overall experience on the ship was not as good as before. Maybe it was just the cabin steward that killed the vibe, but there it is.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

The specialty restaurants we went to, Le Bistro and Cagney's Steakhouse were great, but the buffet was not as good as we have experienced in other ships.

Entertainment

We saw the ABBA show. That was very good, but a little short. We also saw The Choir of Men which was a disappointment. It takes forever to get going with a lot of having guests on stage and telling not very interesting stories. We tried to listen to The Octaves, but gave up because we thought they weren't really putting in any effort, just playing. We sat down to listed to a guitarist from Brazil who was very good on the guitar, but when you're playing songs that everyone knows you don't need to do "your take" on them and add lengty solos and really fast playing. We were trying to relax.

Service and Staff

Waiters, bar staff and other personnel did a great job, but our steward didn't. He only emptied the bin in the bathroom twice during the cruise, didn't add a toilet roll when the last one was in use, and I had to ask another steward in the corridor for them. He didn't take wine glasses left in the room or on the balcony table. When we first came into the room there was a bottle of bubbly in the fridge, but no champagne glasses. He brought them after we asked for them.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
The ship was clean and everything worked.

Cabin / Stateroom

The cabin was comfortable and the balcony was fine. It was easy to get to from elevators. The bed, however, was not very good. The side facing the balcony had probably been sat on a lot so it had lost its firmness and you would roll off if you lay to close the edge.

Ship tip

It's a bit too big.
