Review summary

NCL delivered a great experience for us. It was my mother-in-law's first cruise and was simply in awe of the entire experience.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
It was a zoo like it always is when that many people try to funnel off and on a ship in a short period of time. We were fortunate to have found an extremely helpful associate who helped us get on board with my 83 year-old mom!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Don't miss Bayamo, it was awesome! The rest of the food was very good with plenty of it. No starving or weight loss to be expected.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Spa saved the day. We did see Choir of Man which was quite good, not everyone's cup of tea.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
See above.

Children's Programs

No kids.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
The staff were awesome! I pushed my mother-in-law in a transport chair much of the time and I never needed to ask for assistance! Getting off/on the ship at the tender ports was very easy with the staff's help!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
Most food in the back on a few floors with entertainment and boarding in the front. You definitely get your steps in.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Small but comfortable. No windows worked well for my wife but it did get a little stuffy.

Ports of call

New York, New York

5 out of 5
The 3 hour tour after the cruise was really nice. Time to get off the bus and walk to ground zero was very special. A wonderful option for getting off the ship and to LaGuardia or JFK easily!

Newport, Rhode Island

5 out of 5

Portland, Maine

5 out of 5

Bar Harbor, Maine

5 out of 5

Saint John, New Brunswick

3 out of 5
A long time in port without that much to do. The reversing waterfall was definitely a highlight. Canada was definitely NOT as accommodating for people with disabilities. No reserved seats on buses.

Halifax, Nova Scotia

5 out of 5
The Victorian Gardens and Citadel were much better than I anticipated.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
The bus tour saved the day and made disembarking much less painful.

We were on the Escape in 2019 and for the Canada/ New England run this year, on Liberty of the Seas. We went to Boston, Portland and Bar Harbor, ME, St John, New Brunswick and Halifax, Nova Scotia. Lots to do..private tours in the USA and for Canada, ship excursions. You make it fun.
