Review summary

We picked this cruise out of a few NCL choices. We really like Escape. A mix of lots of activities but also spice H2O. 1900 passengers was a nice bonus too. Felt very safe on board, and NCL offered free antigen testing for international travelers. I sailed in December, and NCL had tweaked performers to ensure a fresh experience.

Embarkation

4 out of 5
NCL no longer testing everyone, so we just proceeded right into the terminal. We used GoPort from Orlando, and delivered us to PC at around noon, so it was fairly busy. We sailed with 1900 passengers this week.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We tried all the complimentary venues and Cagneys, moderno and bayamo. Great food. For an alternative to buffet, try a relaxing breakfast at Osheehans.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Always lots to do. We had a good balance of port/ sea days. Great for relaxing.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
We really enjoyed Choir of Man, and After Midnight. The live bands, comedy show, and Hoel at the Moon were great too

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Staff on board are working really hard to ensure guests have a great time. The ship was kept very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Scored an upgrade to a mini suite. Bigger bathroom. Deck 15 was a good location for access to the buffet and pool. I didn’t notice any extra noise. NCL removed the coffee machine for covid protocols, unless you asked for it back. I appreciated the extra counter space- for my breakfast room service tray 😎

Ship tip

Check NCL.com to research where things are beforehand. It also helps build excitement. Enjoy sunset on The Waterfront

Ports of call

Cozumel, Mexico

Did the Fury catamaran excursion. Was nice and included a beach stop with large inflatable water toys and slides

Port Canaveral, Florida

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

Anyone who knows GSC knows it’s a tender port, depending on calm seas. We lucked out and had an amazing day. The zip lines were terrifying, but awesome. Very safe. I’m glad I braved the fear of heights! 😅

Ocho Rios, Jamaica

3 out of 5
Finn’s river falls and Jamaica bobsled. Both were fun, but the constant hustling for tips by everyone along the way, plus aggressive souvenir vendors makes you want to stay on the ship

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
1900 passengers probably helps, but we had bag tags for 845; and they called us at 830.. Luggage easily located in the terminal. CBP was a bit different than my last cruise in December where they used the NCL software for facial recognition. Easy access to our GoPort shuttle back to MCO
