Review summary

The check in was quite disappointing. Was not able to eat right away.....ship had to refuel or so that's what we were told. This appeared to be very unorganized and I was under the assumption that my tips and gratuities were all paid in advance.

And what a lot of people don't realize is that there is the prepaid gratuities and then there are the bonus Srv Charges as well. And I was wrong about where to find what you've paid...its on your confirmation, not your e-docs. But you should present both at check in. For my next cruise I have a Bev Srv charge & a prepaid Srv Charge on my Confirmation print out. So just be aware that there are 2 Srv Charges. Don't get them confused.

Look at your e-docs. It will list everything that has been paid on your acct. Did you book your own cruise or was it done by a travel agent? If you had a travel agent you can ask about it. Maybe there was a mix up, but I've been cruising NCL for 20 years and I've never had a problem with my acct through them. That's why I always book direct with NCL. Maybe I don't get a fancy perk or special bonus from a travel agent to book with them, but I also never have any surprises either. The option to prepay is right in the booking process, and bonuses if you choose them(drink pkg, specialty dining) have the gratuity added when you choose them. Should always review your e-docs and be sure everything is on there that u paid for...especially when u book outside of NCL directly.

Must be your first cruise! Unless it is a perk or you paid your gratuitues outright they will not already be covered when you board. It is super important that you read and research prior to any travel.
