Review summary

The Escape is a great ship with wonderful staff, good food and the best game shows and parties at sea.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Worst embarkation ever - for some reason had to wait outside for almost an hour in the cold, and for about 1 1/2 hours inside. Never happened at the Manhattan port before. No reason given. I gave 3 stars because this is unusual, and the port and NCL employees were still great.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
I gave five stars because of the amazing supper club and Manhattan room entertainment. What wonderful eating venues. The food on the Escape also improved a lot since my last cruise.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
Did a day pass to the spa. It was fantastic! Four stars only because the casino sucked. There were a lot of empty slot machines because they just took your money immediately. Only a very small number of lucky people came out with anything.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Best entertainment ever! The game shows are so funny, I couldn’t breathe. And their parties are second to none.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
Great service throughout the ship. I had some cabin steward issues. She never introduced herself to me, so I had no idea who she was until day 3. Also she could not fix a bed. I had to tuck the bottom sheet in every night. Plus it was either the wrong size for the bed or she was putting it on sideways, because it was too short. Sometimes I found myself touching the bare mattress. Ugh. However, this is unusual for Norwegian. I have always had great cabin stewards in the past.

Ship Quality

1 out of 5
Great design. Very easy to get around the ship. I especially love the carpet design, which has fish swimming forward. Made navigation very easy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
Studio cabins are small but I find them very cozy. And I love, love, love the studio lounge. It is so comfortable and the coffee is great. It is like having a huge living room to go to throughout the cruise. I also Love the solo travelers meetings! A wonderful opportunity to meet people and make friends. Had some problems with the cabin steward on this trip, but is very unusual on Norwegian.

Ship tip

Definitely book the supper club. Most of the dinners are free and the shows are he great!

Ports of call

New York, New York

5 out of 5
Best city in the world (but I’m a little biased because it is my hometown.)

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

5 out of 5
Bermuda is one of my favorite ports. It is a beautiful and safe island. Plenty of things to do and places to relax.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
It was pretty fast. Except there was a really long line inside the ship to wait on (even if you are not self-assisting your luggage). Other cruise lines organize this much better. But once off the ship, the process is pretty fast.
