Review summary

very disappointed - hard finding anywhere to sit around pool, elevators were always full and time consuming to get anywhere, elevators only at each end of ship - long walk to get to most places - food was not as good as on other ncl cruises, hard for kids to play sports - always occupied, same for slides, kid pool area hard to sit and watch them - no seats, charging $9.95 to watch a movie in our cabin was overpriced, no electrical outlet in bathroom for toothbrush or waterpik, ship vibrated terribly leaving Bermuda and it was hard to go to sleep, no seating available for many atrium events, remote to work tv was terrible, IT lines first two days was horrendous, no food by pool area, library and game room was one room, no quiet reading area

Layout terrible - only two elevator sections at end of ship - and with so many people the elevators were full and passed our floors numerous times. Plus the smoke from the casino area was unbearable.

Cabin / Stateroom

after sitting in cabin for half an hour in the dark - we finally realized you needed a card to put in a slot by the door to get electric - no one told us about that - should have been told - also having young children ages 9, 14, 17 - the fridge should not be packed with little bottles of liquor - my 9 year old missed the towels in shape of animals i told him about since this was his first cruise - also as a gold latitude member I assumed my free bottle of water was the bottle on the counter when we walked in - later to find out charged $5.50 for it and had to request my free bottle of water that was a small bottle.

Ship tip

Don't take it - too big a ship - too many minor annoyances due to size of ship that add up to a disappointment

I never said I did not like Bermuda - its my second time going there and I love Bermuda and will be going there again at the end of this year. I was only pointing out the things that I did not care for on the Escape cruise - I had a wonderful time with my family and made wonderful memories - however, being someone who has taken many cruises on NCL there were just things I did not care for on this cruise - just being honest and sorry if it offended people by sharing my feelings. I by no means was the only person who felt this way - I spoke with many cruisers on the Escape who expressed similar feelings to me without me even bringing the subjects up.

I have to agree with you concerning the pool area and feel it should be managed better. It's a major feature of cruising and all should be able to enjoy and not have to race to be first. Believe me when I say the cruise lines believe this too and some manage the pool area much better than others. We have been on over 50 cruises and have rated more cruises positive than negative and just because you read something negative in a review doesn't mean you should expect the same. It means you hope the cruise line will look into the negative and improve if possible and accept your appreciation to the positive aspects and not let those areas slip. I've never been on a bad cruise but have rated some lower than others based on management and level personal enjoyment. I fully believe that just because I enjoyed a cruise doesn’t mean everyone else did too. But if a cruise ship get more low reviews than high review then something is wrong and I will avoid that ship if there is a better rated alternative ship.

Wow so much negativity! I went on the Escape in 2016 and had the time of my life. I went in with positive expectations and left with amazing memories! The Escape is a beautiful ship, the layout was good, food was great, the staff was amazing the entertainment was enjoyable. They have plenty of staircases also....not just elevators. It was not hard to figure out the electricity in the room and to use your key card.

I'm sorry you didn't have a good time in Bermuda, because Bermuda it's a Beautiful island and also before going to any cruise ship small or big always do your homework especially if you are traveling with children, and besides it's how you make of your vacation, Negative with negative doesn't work, now with positive expectations and attitude its works all the times and its goes a long way and a happy way.👍🤗🚢🏝

Gold latitude and you didn't do any homework! Didn't know about putting your card in for electricity to stay on? Really? Did you even think about asking for help? If you're going to spend your hard earned money you really should look into making it work and not sit back and complain about what you could have easily overcome by reading up on. Hope your next cruise is much better!

Did you read anything about Escape before your cruise? Everything you are complaining about are addressed either in this forum or on line. Do your homework! Read! Research!
