Review summary

This was the first cruise experience for my friend and her children. Throughout the cruise I apologized to her for how bad it was. I was embarrassed that she paid so much for such a poorly designed room and that they had to cram themselves into their stateroom. Service in the dining room was a nightmare as well. We had to wait 10 to 15 minutes to get water and a menu when we were the only people in the entire dining room. One night dinner took 3 hours - 3 hours!! I told my friend we will go on a Carnival Cruise next time so she can see what a real cruise experience is like.

We never got to find out as you had to be fast and make reservations to go see a show. Really??

Service and Staff

Service in the main dining room was awful The first night it took us 3 hours to get through dinner. Other times we sat and sat until someone came over to give us a menu. This is NOT what service in the dining room should be. It was embarrassing.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
The Escape was designed to hold as many passengers as possible. Rooms are much smaller than other cruise ships. The Garden Cafe on deck 16 was designed for looks and not for a huge group of people looking to sit down and eat. Food stations are hard to get to. Pub style tables don't belong in this area - take up way to much room for minimal seating capacity. Main areas need to be more open and the food needs to be better organized. You shouldn't have to walk all around the room to get a packet of ketchup for your sandwich. The designer of this ship has obviously never been on a cruise with hundreds of other people....

Cabin / Stateroom

The size of a balcony room on this ship is barely larger than a port hole stateroom on other cruise ships. We had no space to hang up clothes for 3 people, so we lived out of our suitcases for the week.

Ship tip

Book on another ship. The Escape was designed to cram as many people as possible on this ship. The rooms are very small. I have been on 18 cruises and never had a room like this.
