Sail date: March 03, 2019

Ship: Norwegian Escape

Cabin type: Suite

Cabin number: 11804

Traveled as: Couple

Review summary

9 people were injured on the ship when we were hit by the 115 MPH wind. If you were in your cabin, you were ok. Lots of damage to public areas. Broken glasses in cabin and I fell and slid half the length of the cabin. No serious injuries to us.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
Could have used more direction in NY. Lots of people all in one spot with little signage.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

3 out of 5
Buffet was a zoo so we avoided it. The complimentary dining at Taste, Savor and Manhattan room was equal to if not better than the specialty restaurants.

Onboard Activities

2 out of 5
Weather played a big part in this rating. Indoor activities were crowded because everyone was inside.

Entertainment

3 out of 5
Again, very crowded.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The crew went above and beyond on this trip. We were hit by 115 MPH wind and there was a lot of damage on board. They worked all night to make sure the ship was ready for everyone the next morning.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
Spotless, even with the damage caused by the wind.

Cabin / Stateroom

3 out of 5
Bed was a little hard, a little cramped in the room. Couch wa a little worn. VERY CLEAN!.

Ship tip

If the weather is good this is a great cruise.

Ports of call

New York, New York

3 out of 5
Good views on the way out. No excursion

Port Canaveral, Florida

2 out of 5
It rained. We went to the beach but ended up shopping at a couple of local stores.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Captain said the tenders would not have fared well in the rough sea.

Nassau, Bahamas

3 out of 5
We were there for two days because we did not stop at Stirrup bay. We missed our bus to take us to the boat on day 2 to Blue Lagoon. We ended up taking a bus tour of Nassau that was just ok.

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
Very well organized. Quick.

I went after you guys. We know they over worked their staff especially the waiters. We felt so much negativity through out our days on the cruise. We felt bad for them and try to be understanding. However it happened on a Monday, we arrived on the Sunday. Is a new cruise and new group of people. They have to be professional and continue with their jobs.

We weren’t thrilled about the Florida/Bahamas cruise. Ship hugs the coast too much and seas rough out of NY. The Bermuda cruise is much nicer 3 days of pink beaches and friendly people
