Review summary

This was our 6th cruise to Bermuda, the 5th on Norwegian Cruise Line. This was our first experience on the Norwegian Escape. One great thing about NCL is that there are certain features shared in common across all of the ships of the fleet. There are also unique aspects to each ship. Our previous two NCL cruises were aboard the Norwegian Breakaway, sister ship to the Escape. Getting around on board is a breeze. Our Aft-Facing Balcony stateroom gave us plenty of storage and a larger than expected balcony. We saw the shows "After Midnight" and "For The Record - The Brat Pack" and both were spectacular. The performers are impressively talented and the shows are excellent. Bermuda was just as beautiful as always. The Bermudian people are friendly and helpful. It's also convenient that the exchange rate is 1:1. The Bermudian dollar is valued at exactly one U.S. dollar. This makes shopping a cinch. We recommend Bermuda as a destination and cruising is our preferred mode of travel.

We bid on a stateroom upgrade and were very pleasantly surprised to receive an Aft-Facing Balcony stateroom. This was our best stateroom in our 7 cruises so far.

Ship tip

Book your shows and specialty restaurant reservations as early as possible to give you the best selection.

Ports of call

New York, New York

4 out of 5
For some reason this time checking in luggage in New York took hours instead of the usual few minutes we've gotten used to. Once inside the terminal, the process went more smoothly.

Royal Naval Dockyard, West End, Bermuda

5 out of 5
This was the 6th time we've cruised to Bermuda. We know our way around the area and enjoyed the local shopping.

Disembarkation

Disembarkation in New York went as smoothly as silk.

We are considering Bermuda in a few years, Alaska is next on the list. I have been looking at the itinerary and with 3 days in one place Im wondering what the draw is. A few of the excursions look interesting, but seems to be a lot of beach time. My wife will love that, but I want “stuff” to do. Sitting on the beach reading for a bit is great and all, but not for 2-3 days. Other than the listed activities on the website what is available? Also, will my drink package work there? A few cocktails would be nice too.
