Review summary

Been on several cruises and a variety of different companies. Because of getting sick early on I was unable to fully enjoy everything this boat had to offer. I booked this cruise only a week in advance and was happy to be offered an upgrade to a better cabin for practically nothing but was disappointed to discover that the $25 credit that was promised to me when booking was not honored when I got on the boat. When I asked why Guest Services said I had to have booked more than a month prior when the website stated differently and was promised by .

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

2 out of 5
Ended up with food poisoning on the second day and was sick the rest of the cruise. Ended up eating mostly soup and salads as a result. Buffet really didn’t have much variety from day to day and frequently had the same food but prepared a little different. I have been on many cruises so expected a variety of choices such as Mexican, Spanish, Asian, American and such but found no such variety unless paying extra in the restaurant places or having to deal with a restaurant type where dinner took an hour. Drinks were expensive as well and you are no longer allowed to bring water on board.

Onboard Activities

Forced to attend this restaurant for food after Buffet closes and is where I got food poisoning after having the chicken fajitas. Most boats have a place near the buffets on top that offer pizza and burgers 24/7 but the Escape does not do this.

Entertainment

Shows were ok. Singers were decent but music selection didn't give their voices justice. At least the shows were geared more towards my generation this time instead of the more older generation which is what I have found on other cruises.

Service and Staff

Loved my cabin upgrade. Very big and spacious. Steward Kim was very friendly and helpful

Ship tip

Watch what you eat and always wash your hands or apply hand sanitizer as much as possible to avoid sickness

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Not a Miami fan and was not happy that I had to pay $140 to park for the week

Falmouth, Jamaica Did not visit port

Was very sick with food poisoning and couldn't leave room

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

Still sick

Cozumel, Mexico

Was still sick but was able to walk for an hour. Store prices within compound were good but walk outside the gate into more local shops and they tried to scam you on prices. Better to stay within the gates.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Seas were to rough so ship canceled everyone going ashore

Just have to leave the ship so early. But at least they fed you breakfast
