Review summary

It was an excellent boat with excellent staff! We will definitely consider cruising Norwegian again. Food left a little to be desired. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our trip!

Embarkation

Organized and brief wait. We were on the ship earlier than expected!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
Buffet was fine; loved the breakfast and Indian options. Bayamo was the best meal on the boat. Less than stellar experiences at Cagneys and O'Sheehan's. Really enjoyed Food Republic and Le Bistro (though we sat "outside" at Le Bistro and the smoke drifting down from the casino left a lot to be desired).

Tobacco Road Liquor Bar

5 out of 5

Best martinis on the boat and we tried them all. Loved this "nook" bar!

Le Bistro

4 out of 5

Delicious food and drink! We thoroughly enjoyed the shrimp dish. We were sat "outside" in the Atrium dining area. Smoke from the casino was drifting down to where we were seated and it left a lot to be desired for the experience. Would have offered 5 stars except for this.

District Brew House

4 out of 5

Awesome selection and generally had some good entertainment each night. We were a group of beer snobs so it was fun to be able to drink some familiar craft beers on our trip!

Bayamo by Ocean Blue

5 out of 5

Phenomenal service from start to finish. We utilized this reservation on our Dining Plan and so glad we did. Our serving team was swift, but not overbearing. We had both soups, the beef carpaccio and the ceviche to start. All were amazing! The wagyu sirloin was the highlight of the meal. their desserts were phenomenal and we enjoyed having latin wine paired with our meal. Overall, an excellent experience!

Cagney's Steakhouse

3 out of 5

We had high hopes for Cagney's, but it didn't really deliver. They were VERY busy that night and our waiter was great. We felt the kitchen was pretty backed up. All three steaks that were ordered came out overcooked. A friend with us ordered the lamb shank. It came out overcooked the first time. She sent it back and the second time around it came out PERFECT and the bite I had was AMAZING. The desserts were mediocre. Definitely potential here, but we didn't have a great experience.

Onboard Activities

Mini-golf was a blast. We enjoyed the main pool - ALWAYS something fun going on! The Spa was great. My husband and I both got massages. My hot-stone was amazing. We ended up on a spa-level cabin so we had access to the Thermal Spa the entire trip - incredibly worth the upgrade! We utilized the Thermal Spa everyday.

Mandara Spa & Salon

Great hot-stone massages! One small suggestion would be to have more comfortable surface/cover for the massage table's face area. When I was on my stomach, I found the cushion/towel on my face to be quite uncomfortable. Also, had access to the Thermal Spa the entire trip. We utilized it everyday. The Steam Room, Snow Room and warm stone loungers were some of our favorites!

Entertainment

5 out of 5
SUCH a fun boat! Every time we turned around there was another activity or show to watch. We thoroughly enjoyed the entertainment staff. Highly recommend the comedians, dueling pianos and the "game shows" each night at the Atrium.

Headliners Comedy Club

Frank Townsend (spelling?) was our favorite. He's best at the late show!

Children's Programs

No kids on the trip!

Service and Staff

Our room steward, Janice, was lovely! Always sweet to say hello and did a great job with keeping our room flawless. Tyler, Dave and the entire entertainment team were fantastic! So fun and friendly. Also, Tyler is a wizard; we're still unsure when he sleeps and how he gets from point A to point B so quickly. One of our favorite bartenders was Richard from St Lucia. He served us up on the sundeck most days. Friendly and made awesome drink suggestions.

Ship Quality

Beautiful ship! Easy to navigate and always clean.

Cabin / Stateroom

We were midship on the 15th floor. Loved the spa bathroom/shower. Sizable and easy to navigate even with two people in there at once. Bed was comfortable and we had a lovely balcony I used every morning to sip coffee before venturing out. TONS of storage for clothes and other items. Overall, a great stay!

Ship tip

I'd stay mid-ship. You'll have easy access to your rooms from the stairs/elevators and quick steps to most of the pools/restaurants. Try to upgrade to spa-level if you can!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

Fun people, great food and awesome views!

Falmouth, Jamaica Did not visit port

We didn't get off the boat as we had visited here before and were unimpressed with the port.

George Town, Grand Cayman

Sting ray city!

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico Did not visit port

Decided not to get off the boat due to the crowds being so thick.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

We were EXTREMELY disappointed that we did not get to visit Great Stirrup Cay. When our original itinerary changed due to the hurricanes; we were bummed. But then we realized we were going to the Private Island, so that appeased us. Then we didn't get to go at all. We did not get off the boat in Nassau. Would have loved to experience this port!

Disembarkation
