Review summary

This was our 2nd cruise and both have been with Norwegian. We really enjoyed the Western Caribbean and would do it again, but during a different time of the year. Being aboard the largest cruise ship to date was a unbelievable experience. You hardly knew you were on a ship, even with the winds rocking the boat. There was so much to do, see, eat and drink that made it all worth while. We are already planning our next cruise. Thank you Norwegian for helping us create memories to last a lifetime!

Embarkation

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
We had three fine dining experiences and the unlimited beverage packages included in our reservation. All three dining experiences were fantastic. It was definitely a tie as to which was our favorite between Cagney's Steakhouse and La Cucina (Italian). Both the service and the food were AMAZING at both restaurants. The buffets were also very good. They provided a nice variety between breakfast, lunch and dinner. The unlimited drink package was definitely the way to go. I highly recommend to anyone to purchase this option.

District Brew House

5 out of 5

The District Brew House was definitely one of the top of bars. We come from a huge craft brew state (Colorado) and really enjoyed the selection of beers available. We were even happy to see one of local beers featured on tap (Left Hand Milk Stout)! Although it was a little too dark in there during the daytime, the atmosphere was very relaxed and pretty cool. The photo booth was also a fun touch.

Onboard Activities

We enjoyed poolside most of the time. The slides were definitely a good time. Too bad we didn't do as well as we would have liked at the casino. Still a fun time.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The DJ's and other entertainment was very good.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The service was really good at the restaurants and the cleaning service of the room. However, the time it took to get a drink at several bars was too long. There was usually only one or two bartenders, which is not convenient when you have a lot of people wanting a drink. There were times when we had to walk away to find another bar or drink with faster service. The main bar (Atrium) on deck 6 is a perfect example of this. Please consider having additional bartenders.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship's layout was fine. It took a few days to remember where everything, but that is pretty common. For the most part, everywhere we went the areas were clean and maintained very well.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The overall comfort and size was great! We LOVED having a balcony! This was our first balcony stateroom and have to say we will never do anything but a balcony. TRULY AMAZING! We may even have to upgrade to a better balcony stateroom.

Ship tip

Sailing on Norwegian Escape was incredible! One tip, be prepared to walk the stairs a lot as the elevators take a while and are usually pretty packed.

Ports of call

Miami, Florida

4 out of 5
We love Miami! Our plan is to spend at least a few more days there before and after our next cruise. No excursions this time.

Falmouth, Jamaica

5 out of 5
Falmouth was wonderful! The natives were very nice. We did the Aqua tubing and Bamboo Beach Club. The aqua tubing was a blast and bamboo beach was so much fun!! The drinks at bamboo beach were not that great. Very watered down. The tapas was good, but not a much good as we expected.

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

We missed booking an excursion at it was sold out, so we decided to say on the ship.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

5 out of 5
We loved Costa Maya!! We visited the Chacchoben Mayan Ruins. The tour guide was wonderful. She was very informative and provided a lot of history and culture background. After the excursion, we ate and drank with the locals, which was so fun! The food was AMAZING and the drinks were on point!

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas Did not visit port

Due to high winds our ship was diverted to Nassau, Bahamas instead, which was still amazing!

Disembarkation
