Review summary

This was our second cruise with NCL maybe the last. We were overwhelmed with the amount of bars & noise. Every ten to twent steps was a bar. I get it the bar is revenue generated but why SO many?. You cannot find a quiet spot any where on the boat. The pool is ok but when the music starts we had to leave it was so loud we could not handle it. The pool is very small & very cold too many people on sea days. The one time that the pool was quiet the water was so cold it was empty. Everyone commented on the cold water. Carnival is known as the party boat this must be close competition. As I have not cruised with carnival for that reason I was disappointed in this cruise. Would not recommend for persons wanting to rest & relax. Way to much noise, loud music, and bares for us.

The Manhattan dining room was extremely loud. There is a band playing music which was so loud we could not not hear each other talk. We tried it twice it was very loud both nights.

A lot of the game shows including the love & marriage game were held in the Atrium. The atrium area is very small making it difficult to get a chair. If you had to stand which we did it was hard to see thru the crowd. They also had The Deal or No deal game show there if you wanted to play it was a $25 charge per card.

The waterfront was a great place to escape the party for a bit. Comfortable couches with tables and a beautiful view of your surroundings!

You’re on a ship with 6000 other people. Of course there’s gonna be people hanging out everywhere. I just think the waterfront is more relaxing because there’s less noise. People usually go there to do that: relax. But if you can afford a stateroom with a balcony, well, lucky you, here’s your little quiet intimate place. Unless you have neighbors that are in a total opposite vacation mood.

Forgot about the waterfront for quiet places. Always see people hanging out there. Thats why we prefer a balcony!

Sorry to read you had such a bad experience on the Escape. But You said that the Manhattan dining room was too loud. It has a band and a dance floor. It is advertise like that, and that’s what makes it different and a lot of people like it. If you want something more quiet, there’s 2 other main dining room (Taste and Savor). You also said that you couldn’t find a quiet place to relax. What about Spice H2O (adult only area) or the waterfront? There are no more bars then on other Cruise Ship of other cruise line I have taken. I like that you have variety and choice. Each place offer something different. Maybe for your next cruise you should try a more upscale cruise line. They are more expensive and there’s more older people but that way, you’d be able to use the pool and I’m sure it would be more quiet.

Balconies are the very be retreat on the ship! If you get up to go to the bathroom or get a bite to eat, no one takes your spot😉

We loved the Breakaway for the NY sailing, great food and great value but I agree that the music can be very loud. We just sought quieter areas or even our own balcony, it can be done.

Maybe you should try a Train Ride through Canada. Quiet and peaceful and only one Bar. Dress warm!

Carnival is the "fun ship" not necessarily a party boat. It's great for families. When you have cruise lines offering free, unlimited alcohol, you can expect a bar in every corridor.

Big fans on the Escape but can follow the comments of the poster... the Escape is a fun ship to be on. There are plenty of quiet spots if you search them out but seeking quietness while attending the events at The Atrium or Spice H2O just wouldn’t work.. Most ships (including RCCL) in our experience are going this way as most folks these days seem to cruise for the fun, entertainment, and to take advantage of the drinks packages... There are sedentary options but many folks might find them boring... Extended cruises with lots of elderly folks ‘cluttering up’ the main areas such are the Atrium reading, sleeping or knitting isn’t a pile of fun for those of us who still have a bit of spark...

There is an adults only area at the rear of the ship. The pools are filled with sea water so they tend to be cooler. Seriously, there are not that many bars that close together. If you wanted a quiet place there is a library and if you had a balcony that is always a great place. Maybe you should have done someresearch before booking a cruise.
