Review summary

This was a great cruise, even though we were scheduled to go on the eastern side. The itinerary was changed to visit the Western Caribbean, but that was all good. Never the less, it was a fun and relaxing cruise as we love cruising with Norwegian Cruise Lines. The best part of the whole adventure is the casual style.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
We boarded the ship in Miami and was the best experience we have ever encountered. It didn't take very long for us to stand in line and get waited on by the cruise member. She was extremely courteous and knowledgeable. We boarded the ship within 10 minutes total. The fastest we had ever boarded.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
The food in the buffet and the specialty restaurants was excellent. The choices of food and drinks were bountiful. Food choices for every culture on the ship. We were a little disappointed to find out there not going to be a lobster tail dinner for the week.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
We didn't do any of the physical activities on the ship, but there was plenty to do if we choose to.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
The shows that we attended were just OK. I really didn't care for the musical of the "Brat Pack". I thought it was going to be somewhat like the "Rat Pack", Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and others of that time era. The performers were very talented though. They each could play an instrument, and many could sing and dance.

Service and Staff

4 out of 5
The room steward was not exceptional. He didn't come around to introduce himself until 8pm that night. We were so tired from traveling, that we were in bed at that time and did not answer the door. He did a good job of keeping us in supplies and our room was always tidy. He did most things we asked for, but to this day, I still don't know his name. The waiters and waitresses could have been a little more personable in the buffet. We, sometimes, would have to ask them to wipe off the table where someone else had been eating. They weren't very friendly at all.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The layout of the ship was the same as most others. The ship was very clean and well maintained.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
The overall comfort of the cabin was OK. It could have stood to be a little larger, especially with the storage and closet. The bathroom was a normal size, but the balcony was just too small to really enjoy. Room enough for 2 chairs and a 12" x 12" table. Hardly big enough to set 2 drinks on. I think the newer ships of Norwegian have cut the size of the balcony width down by atlas a foot. When you are in that tight of quarters, it certainly can make a difference.

Ship tip

Be prepared to meet the servers and some of the other workers who are not sure of themselves and are not very friendly. If you ask them for directions on the ship, they might tell you that they do not know!

Ports of call

Miami, Florida Did not visit port

We just went there by Taxi to board the ship. Didn't do any visiting.

Coxen Hole, Roatan, Bay Islands, Honduras

We liked this port. The people were very nice and friendly.

Harvest Caye, Belize

5 out of 5
This port was amazing. It was beautiful, fun, and relaxing. We spent the day at the beach. It was so clean and delightful. It had many nice places to shop and restaurants to eat and drink.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

4 out of 5
We have been to these ports many times. Therefore, we did not do an excursion this time. When we do, we always like to take a taxi and tour the place to get a better understanding of the people and their culture.

Cozumel, Mexico

5 out of 5
We always like to visit this port. It has many nice gift shops and is so vibrant and clean. The people take pride there. We have ridden the Ferry over to Cancun before, and that is delightful and fun. We have also toured their island and learned many things about how the people live there.

Disembarkation

5 out of 5
We had an extremely early flight back to Ohio and we carried our own luggage off ourselves. We got up extra early, ate breakfast, and then went to the 7th floor and got in line to get off immediately after the ship was cleared by immigration officials. It was very fast getting off and we had plenty of time to get to the FLL airport (28 minute drive) from MIA for our flight back home.
