Review summary

Wonderful family cruise vacation! It was my kids first time and they are hooked and keep asking when we are going again.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
Walked right in, stood in line maybe 5 minutes and walked right on the ship! Workers at the Port Terminal were friendly and helpful.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
We had 4 kids in a wide range of ages, so unfortunately, we mostly ate at the buffet. Buffet had a lot of options, food was decent. Seating was sometimes hard to come by so find a table first! Workers were all friendly and a few of them went above and beyond! Next time, I would like to try some other dining experiences, but I did get to eat at Moderno and Cagney's which were both perfect!

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
I felt like there were plenty of activities onboard, however, my husband doesn't agree with me. Pool games, sports, bingo, casino, shows, trivia, etc.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Due to our kid situation, I didnt get to see any of the nighttime shows (I am seriously upset about missing Priscilla), but the smaller entertainers and musicians were all good!

Children's Programs

5 out of 5
The 4 and 7 year old LOVED the kids program. We were on a spring break cruise so we were told to always check them in early before it filled up. I brought them 5-10 mins before they opened and never had a problem getting them in for their session. My 10 year old did not enjoy the kids program, but I'm pretty sure that is just her age rather than a reflection on NCL.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Every staff member was very friendly, excellent at their job and added to the enjoyment of our cruise! We had favorite bartenders that we tipped well and remembered us throughout the cruise. Our room steward was very efficient and friendly.

Ship Quality

4 out of 5
I read so much hate from people about the Epic, but I thought it was a very nice (albeit unique) ship. People were always cleaning the bathrooms. It definitely was time for a refurbishment but that happened soon after we got off. Nothing major, just some little things that needed fixing. The bathroom/room layout issue that most people have didn't bother us at all. It was nice to be able to use the different parts of the bathroom at the same time, although I could see where some embarrassment could happen with the toilet situation.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
We had a balcony stateroom with 2 adults and 1 child. We had the configuration where the bed is closest to the balcony - definitely get this configuration of you can! My brothers family had the other one and it seemed more crowded. The room was nice, if not odd. I'd stay in a balcony of the Epic again in a heartbeat.

Ports of call

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

5 out of 5
Got off the ship and took a taxi to Cane Garden Beach. Harrowing trip to the other side of the island, but cheap and reliable round trip. Beautiful clean beach!

Disembarkation

4 out of 5
We chose the latest disembarkment time (because I'm dumb and didn't go down for a luggage tag the day they came out lol). It worked out great for us. We waited in a lounge for maybe 15 minutes and then walked out. There was a HUGE line snaking throughout the entire ship that apparently was people who were walking off with their own luggage. I'm not sure what happened, but people were pissed. They called out tag color and we literally walked off.
