Sail date: January 27, 2018

Ship: Norwegian Epic

Cabin type: Balcony

Cabin number: 8118

Review summary

Disappointing due to itinerary change, size/layout of balcony room and overall size of the ship without more strategic placement of elevators. Would not sail again on this ship and will pay more attention to deck and room layouts when booking cruises in future.

Embarkation

3 out of 5
no explanation of what our package included (wanted confirmation at sign in but they said check when you get onboard - huge line-ups

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

4 out of 5
specialty restaurants just fair while buffets were great

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
pools, hot tubs not hot

Entertainment

4 out of 5

Children's Programs

no kids on trip

Service and Staff

4 out of 5

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
clean and well maintained but despite the length of the ship, was surprised to see only banks of elevators for/aft with no mid-ship elevators.

Cabin / Stateroom

2 out of 5
very small & narrow with no bathroom......toilet on one side of entry and shower on the other with the sink and mirror open next to the bed.......little privacy. Balcony almost 1/3 size of the room could have used this space to put in a proper bathroom.

Ship tip

too big for us, we have had far better experiences on many of Norwegian's smaller ships

Ports of call

Falmouth, Jamaica Did not visit port

been before and not interested in Jamaica

George Town, Grand Cayman Did not visit port

been several times before

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

4 out of 5
We were very disappointed as the itinerary was changed after we booked due to the eastern island storm devastation. Highlight for me was Great Stirrup Cay but it was very busy due to # of passengers from our large ship.

Disembarkation

2 out of 5
many people cut in line as handicapped line was not managed properly making it available for many to go ahead of people that were already waiting.......They called us off the ship 15 minutes early only to be standing in lines for over 45 minutes (get luggage and then clear customs). We felt that if we hadn't been taken off the ship earlier then planned, all would have been good. Surprising as Norwegian has been at this for a long time.

We always take our luggage w/us when debarkation at the end of the cruise easier that way

Why was the bathroom setup a surprise it is clearly laid out that way if you look. This is not really much different than many campers.
