Review summary
This was a seven (7) night cruise. This ship is called the Epic due to its immense size. I thought a larger ship would have better options than a smaller ship. This is partially true, however, due to the amount of people everywhere you wanted to go there was a line and many things were booked up. Literally every bar where they were having events, it was three people deep trying to get drinks. There were hardly any waitresses on the ship which i believed caused the problem. The crowded bars caused people to try and cut and the general uneasy feeling of crowded. When we finally figured out how to book shows through the app, they were all booked. We had to go to guest services to ask about it, they advised us to see the box office. We were advised the box office was closed but will be open the next day from 4-5:30. However, we were scheduled to be ashore during that time period. Also, the tender ships. Those who book excursions through the ship where given the higher letters to get off first. So that put us fairly far down (again crowded ship). It took us almost 3 hours to get off the ship. We felt like it was almost time to get back on the ship as soon as we got off.
Then lets talk about the spice h2o area. We thought this would be a nice place with two hot tubs and a pool, but the hot tubs hold 6 people each and the pool wasn't much bigger. On a ship with over 3000 people, well you do the math.
The casino was usually fairly crowded at sea but you could still find a machine or chair. I didn't feel like the odds on the slots were anywhere near that of Vegas. Also, the video blackjack wouldn't even let you double down or split aces.
Then lets get to the nickel and dime stuff. Okay, we got the liquor and soda package. However bottle water was an extra package (200 plus per person i think). Also some nights it felt like the drinks were watered down. Obviously we had the mandatory gratuity charge (14 a day per person). Internet was 30 per day (but must purchase everyday and for every device) or like $45 for 30 minutes. Certain premium shows costs money to go to and certain specialty restaurants costs extra money plus mandatory gratuity. Room service was $9 a plate ( i can somewhat understand charging a delivery but not 9 dollars. FYI don't even think about getting a to go order that is not allowed either). Most games cost at least $1.50 to play and didn't last 3 minutes. As you can see, they charge for everything.
On a brighter note, i will say when you were able to get to the bars or found a waitress they were all extremely nice. Our bell boy (or room tidy up guy) was extremely nice. Also, the food at all the restaurants and buffets was extremely good. We stayed in mini suite room 14114. It was still a little smaller than we had hoped with upgrading and all, but it was a very nice room. It was beneath the arcade and apparently the teenagers didn't have a curfew and preferred to play ski ball at 2 in the morning. Also the ship itself looks immaculate on the inside.
I hope this review serves everyone well.
