Review summary

Bad at the start but turned around later in the cruise once we got to St Thomas.

Embarkation

System issues had everyone waiting around. The boarding group thing makes no sense. On other lines we just did our check in and continued on the ship. Giving everyone a card with separate groups just creates bottlenecks. This just seems like a way to sell an additional Haven benefit.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Food was actually the best I have had in my limited cruise experience overall. MDR was way better then I expected and specialty’s were really good.

Onboard Activities

4 out of 5
We did the go carts which was fun but had issues with our reservation that I will touch on in a different section. Ocean loops water slide was very fun but the rules are a bit overkill. Had to take my wedding band off :-/ Used the fitness center which had great views and modern equipment.

Service and Staff

2 out of 5
Room steward Maria, Vibe staff, and waiters in all venues were great. Guest services, shore excursions, and go kart staff put an early bad taste in our mouths. Let’s start with guest services…. Usually we get a fan for our room as the noise helps us sleep, nope…against the rules on NCL. Okay, we can follow rules. So while there we book go-carts for our party of 5 for the next day at 5:00 to 5:30. Get there and they don’t have a reservation. Guy argues with us for 10 minutes… makes some calls, then tells us that we can get on in 25 minutes but that we should make reservations next time. I lost it and told him do not insult us like that because we did exactly what you asked and your system or staff messed up the reservation. So he let us right on the next run after making another call. We had a VIP Lifestyles Resort day booked in the DR. We researched the resort pre cruise before booking. Reservation on the app shows the same place but when we open the tickets the morning of, it’s a different resort. After the previous day I was already frustrated so I asked why the location was change and we weren’t notified? Guy gets attitude back and says the office in Miami made the change and it’s not his fault. I remind him he is a representative of the company. We just go and get to the place and it’s nice, but not as nice as what we researched. We felt it was not the same value but did not go back to shore excursions due to the ignorance of the employee.

Ship Quality

3 out of 5
Not enough free deck space for the Caribbean. $200.00 additional for an adults only area per person. Really was missing the Serenity deck and Solarium from Royal and Carnival.

Cabin / Stateroom

4 out of 5
Clean and modern. It would have been perfect if the layout had the bed by the balcony which is what we prefer but we know it’s a toss up of what you get.

Ship tip

If you like sun bathing in a quieter area that free, don’t pick this ship.

Ports of call

Tortola, British Virgin Islands

4 out of 5
Beautiful port as well but due to a 6am to 1pm port time we just walked around the shops in port.

Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic

Taino Bay was not as nice as Amber Cove. Excursion was not the location we researched and booked. Bombarded by people selling merchandise and services for the first several hours of our VIP experience for 150.00 per person.

Great Stirrup Cay (Cruise Line Private Island), Bahamas

5 out of 5
Did a 1 bedroom villa at silver cove and it was incredible for our group.

Disembarkation

Slower then the other lines we’ve sailed but not horrible.
