Review summary
I just got home from a great week aboard the Norwegian Dream. Before I went on the cruise I read several negative reviews about this ship on several different sites, and I was not sure what to think. After taking the cruise, I really don't understand some of the things that previous cruisers had to say about the NCL Dream. From the time we arrived at the pier, until we walked into our room took an astonishing 30 minutes. Our bags arrived by 6 PM! If you are looking for a formal dinner at the same time, every night of the week, then dont go on NCL. If you want to try different restaurants each night, or go back and visit your favorites then take this cruise. There was a minimal wait time for the main dining room and Terraces, but the Italian restaurant takes reservations, so there isn't any waiting. I really enjoy going out to dinner when I want to, not the same time same place every night. The entire staff of this ship was extremely helpful from the wait staff and the bartenders, to people at the information and shore excursion desk. The ports of call were great. Progreso was very nice because it has not become a major tourist area yet. The people are very nice, and there are many Mayan ruins to see. There is a small market in the center of the town, and you can wander out of it and around the town. They all welcome tourists, and the kids get all excited. Cozumel was also really nice, and a great place to snorkel. We rented a car so we could see the entire island, which I would recommend doing, because it is so affordable. If you are going to rent a car, book it before you go! Belize is also beautiful. We took a shore excursion straight from the ship, so we didnt go into the city. We snorkeled with stingrays and nurse sharks along the second largest barrier reef in the world. (Make sure you take advantage of the rum punch on the way back, its included). Overall we had a great time aboard the Norwegian Dream, and I highly recommend it.Ports of call
Pros: Freestyle dining
Cons: leaving to go home!
Recommends Norwegian Dream? Yes!
