Review summary
I did put down that I recommend this ship as I felt that we got our money's worth for what we paid. But after having been on Carnival, Princess and RCI I felt that they didn't compare. First the pros: We LOVED our room - an ocean view with port holes. It made the room feel huge and travelling with a 4 year old and 19 month old - more room was nice. We also had an excellent cabin steward. He was a huge blessing on and off the ship when we ran into trouble getting our stroller off the tender. We also really enjoyed the hot tubs, free ice cream and that the other guests were family friendly. Other cruises we've been on have been nice but less family friendly. Cons: Disorganized mainly. Everyone was friendly but for the most part disorganized. For instance in Cozumel my husband and 2 younger daughters came back on the ship after we left the beach (Mr. Sancho's - excellent beach) while my older daughters and I shopped. That night at dinner they called out my husband and baby's name. I called reception and they asked if they were on the ship. Yes. OK we didn't have them swiped in they said - well what about my 4 year old? She came on with them. They had her. The next morning they called our cabin to make sure I was on. Freestyle dining - in theory it was nice. The food was good and the service for the most part very nice. But we had a hard time making reservations. The reception desk would say call the restaurant and they would say call the reception desk. And for EVERY reservation I made I asked for a highchair yet we had to wait every night for a high chair at least 20 minutes. At the Trattoria it was worse. On other ships with traditional dining they recognized our family needs right away and met them every night so it was hard not to compare. Another issue was our safe. We couldn't get it to open so we could reset it. IT took a day before someone came and looked at it. My mother and older daughters were in a room down the hall. Their room only had 2 life jackets. She called reception and asked for a life jacket 3 times and never got one. All in all we are glad we went but right now we're not sure we will ever sail with NCL again.Ship experiences
