Review summary

I would definitely recommend this ship for a quick getaway. The food and service were absolutely wonderful. I liked the signaling system on the door to indicate if you needed your cabin made up or do not disturb or your bed turned down.

Long lines, but it’s a cruise!

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5
Loved the food. We bought the upgrades to the specialty restaurants. The food presentation was 5-Star and the taste too. The margarita tasting was an excellent value and a nice easy to enjoy the day at sea.

Onboard Activities

3 out of 5
The pool is small and the hot tubs were full of children. We were able to find sunbathing chairs, but the staff needs to do a better job at clearing away beach towels of guests not using the chairs.

Entertainment

5 out of 5
Loved all the shows, especially their version of Cirque du Soleil and American Idol.

Children's Programs

I have a 13 year old. We sign up for the entourage club, but when she went and she was not interested in staying. Therefore we did not use this service.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Everyone treated us with great service except one lady in the gift shop. However, by the end of the cruise she was better since I was a regular!

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship was very clean

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
The room was comfortable for two people. It said that it held up to three people, but I could not imagine a third person in the room. We kept our luggage on the sofa bed which gave us adequate room tonight have to walk around a suitcase on the floor. We wish that there was a full size table on the balcony. We liked to have breakfast on the balcony, so we took the table outside everyday.

Ship tip

If you have children do not expect the new were amenities such as a rock climbing wall or a waterslide. They would be disappointed. The Dawn is perfect if you want more of an adult experience of fine dining and taking a cruise at your own pace.

Ports of call

It was a zoo.

Costa Maya (Mahahual), Mexico

It was lovely. Very colorful. It would’ve been nice to know that there’s a huge pool there, but that’s my fault for not attending the presentation. I did the ruins tour and enjoyed it. I had to go back to the shop to get our swimsuits so we can come back and enjoy the pool afterwards.

Disembarkation

Easy
