Review summary

This was my third cruise on the Dawn out of Boston. Each trip was unlike the previous trip. The option of of leaving out of Boston and avoiding the expense of additional travel was foremost in my decision to travel with NCL.

Embarkation

5 out of 5
The whole process went very smoothly. No need to get to the dock early. Save yourself time in line and lots of aggravation by boarding an hour or more after the first boarding opportunity.

Ship experiences

Food and Dining

5 out of 5

Aqua Main Dining Room

5 out of 5

The menu was diverse in its offerings and the food was well prepared. But it was the staff who made my decision to eat there three out of seven nights an easy one.

Bamboo Asian Restaurant

5 out of 5

Make reservations in advance; this is a popular spot. The menu is limited but the service and food were great.

Onboard Activities

5 out of 5
Great variety for ages of all kinds. The spa provides great offerings and skilled service. The thermal package was a bit pricey. And wait for your daily news before making an appointment; you will save money.

Entertainment

4 out of 5
Overall the entertainment was great. Three stage shows in particular were outstanding. The Bliss Lounge was the site of entertainment for families and adults alike.

Service and Staff

5 out of 5
Generally speaking the attitude and service was great. At dinner I was allowed to mix and match food choices from the daily menu. I got entrees as appetizers and veggies from one to go with another entree. The casino workers were able and willing to assist you in every way possible. Unfortunately my cabin steward was less proficient than other stewards I have had on other cruises.

Ship Quality

5 out of 5
The ship is relatively small and easy to navigate. That feature made getting from one place to another quick and easy.

Cabin / Stateroom

5 out of 5
I was surprised at how comfortable an inside cabin is. I was disappointed with my cabin steward who was less proficient than expected.
